Great check-in experience

Recent guests loved the smooth start to this stay.

Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Beautiful rustic off-grid straw bale cabin surrounded by unspoiled nature and working ranch lands, located between Calgary and Canmore.
Running water May-Oct, wood stove and old-fashioned outhouse. Cozy and simple with all the comforts you need. We lived in this little cabin with two toddlers for over a year while we built our house and it has everything you need to be comfortable. It is magical in the winter.
Fun fact: A full length feature film was recently filmed here!

The space
Great for singles or couples or small families. No indoor bathroom or shower, but public facilities are available nearby.
The driveway from the main paved road is 1 km of gravel and is flat and well maintained to the cabin gates. There is a short final track across a pasture with a gentle slope to the cabin yard. In winter we advise having a vehicle with some clearance and AWD in case of snow/poor conditions.
Farm tours available via our Experience listing (Stroll with Black Welsh Sheep)

Guest access
You are welcome to walk / explore the 40 acre fenced property around the cabin . Please do not leave the property to explore neighbouring fields/property as these are not owned by us. You can also book a farm tour with the animals - available via via our Experience listing: Stroll with Black Welsh Sheep

Other things to note
Linens and firewood are provided. Water is provided in jugs through winter, there is running water in warm seasons (May - Oct). Fully stocked kitchen. There is a chopping block and axe for splitting wood. There are candles and some LED/solar lanterns on hand as well. No electricity- the cabin is entirely off grid and does not have solar or other energy sources hooked in. Walking
around the 4o acres is possible with routes dependant on our animal rotation. Outdoor fire pit with picnic table, fire grill and great views. Comfortable in all seasons, allow an hour or two in winter (depending on temps) to get the place up to temperature when you arrive and cabin will hold the heat very well.
Farm fresh eggs are available for 7$/dz- please request at time of booking to ensure we hold some for you. They are in high demand! Cash jar in cabin- honour system payment.
There is a ground box behind cabin, which also has room for your cooler. This acts as a fridge in warmer seasons, or freezer in winter.

Deer, elk, coyotes and all manner of wildlife are our neighbours. We are also a working farm (sheep, horses, chickens, ducks). You will find peace and quiet of a rare kind, with 40 acres of unspoiled, native prairie landscape all around you. The sound of roosters crowing and coyotes howling is the typical soundtrack.
