Three bedroom house on the tip of the peninsula. Great views of the ocean. Hiking nearby. Deep soaker tub and decent water pressure and hot water volume. Old house like your grandparents' with wonky floors and sticking doors. Pretty basic but lots of personal touches. Hosts are a pleasant young couple who have a restaurant and art studio.

Would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay. The house is spacious well, kept and clean. Full kitchen to store and cook food if you need. Their restaurant is delicious. Stayed 2 nights on business and was happy I picked this house to stay at. The view out of the bedroom in the morning is expansive! Thanks

Grates Cove is a lovely spot and we really enjoyed our stay. The house was located very close to the rock wall hiking trails and had great views of the bay. You may want to make sure the restaurant/cafe is open before arriving and, if not, stop at the grocery store in Old Perlican. If you're looking for quiet and solitude, this is the place for you. Courtney was really friendly and helpful.

Courtney was a wonderful host. The whole process of getting in and out of the property was very smooth. The deck is great and provided an excellent vantage point for staring at the stars (it's so clear and dark there that we were able to see unbelievable stars!). Courtney and her husband also run a restaurant and event space in town and we had an EXCELLENT dinner and enjoyed a performance by a Newfoundland poet/musician.

Grates Cove Studios is owned and operated by Artist/Designer Terrence Howell & Courtney Howell, Newfoundland and South Louisiana natives who met in, traveled around and ate their way through South Korea. In 2009, they pitched their family in Grates Cove, the birthplace of Terrence’s father, grandmother and many ancestors. Soon after, they bought the old school house in Grates Cove and in 2011 started Grates Cove Studios.
