The bedroom has a comfy queen-size bed. A patio area outside that is all your own. A table and chairs to enjoy al fresco the croissants and coffee from the nearby bistro.

A quiet private one-room, one-bath bungalow. It sits behind the main house but access is all private and separate. Step outside your French doors to your own outdoor patio area where most guests like to enjoy their morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Because San Diego weather is so nice, the outdoor area feels like an extended living/dining area. We are located in South Park village where many restaurants and shops and boutiques are located. An easy walk or bike ride to many sights.

The space

While this bungalow is attached to a bigger house, it is completely private and separated from the main house. It has its own private entrance and bathroom with shower. It's been remodeled recently with Spanish tile, unique bath tile design, french doors and garden patio. The bed is queen-sized and very comfy with lots of pillows. The room is just right for two people, extra comfy for one. While there is no kitchen, a mini-fridge is provided with extra amenities, microwave, coffee pot with all the fixings, plates, cups, glasses, wine glasses, and if it's citrus season, all the mandarins you can eat. A gas grill is available, as well. The room may not be big, but it is so comfy, quiet and relaxing surrounded by trees, bougainvillea and a canyon view. But you'll spend most of your time in the South Park village two blocks away shopping, dining, sightseeing, or biking around the local San Diego sights. For business travelers we provide a laptop lap desk

You have coffee, juices and snack bars for free in your room. The local coffee shops, Target Express and restaurants all within a three-block radius will provide all you need otherwise. Balboa Park, the world's largest cultural park is an easy walk or bike ride or drive away. There's a bike rental kiosk just two blocks away.

There is no TV provided in the room.

Because the guests have their own entrance, we don't see them except upon arrival, or unless we pass in the garden, coming and going. The patio is for the guests only. But we are always nearby for questions or emergencies. And, we are happy to make suggestions for dinner or sightseeing or anything else.

South Park is the hottest and hippest 'hood in San Diego. It's a tight community where we all know one another. Plenty of restaurants of every variety and size, from gluten-free to vegan to Mexican and Italian, all delicious. The shops are unique and independently owned. It's a very dog-friendly neighborhood with lots of parks and open spaces.

The bus stop is three blocks away, and it goes directly downtown to more shops, the ferry to Coronado Island, movie theaters, the Gas Lamp district, convention center. Parking for our property is on the street, plentiful and free.

We do have a dog. She is not allowed in the private room and so it is allergen free. But she is happy to say hello, if you are a pet lover.

This is a smoke-free property. No ifs, ands, or cigarette butts.

Guest access

The guests have a private entrance and no access to the main house. They have double french doors on one side and two large windows on the other. They have their own private bath, a large patio courtyard with barbecue. The airbnb room is separated enough from the main house that it's quiet and private for everyone.

Interaction with guests

We don't see our guests except if we run into them in the garden path coming and going from the back of the house. We respect their privacy and hope they feel the quiet room is a nice secluded respite. But we do live on the property, so we are available for emergencies or questions or directions, or even just to chat.

Other things to note

We provide keyless entry to the property, but we try to arrange a greeting upon arrival so we can meet each other. So, if you can provide your arrival time that is always helpful. If it meets with our schedule, we will meet you at the front door to our house and show you to the bungalow. If it doesn't, then the entry instructions are provided here on the listing site.

We hope our guests have a nice vacation in San Diego. We expect them to respect the privacy of our neighbors and other tenants. Please be quiet after 10pm.

This is a smoke-free property so smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises.

Because we are walking distance to anything anyone would want, we hope they enjoy their time in San Diego and find the room a comfortable resting spot.

The room is not really amenable to children, but we do on occasion make exceptions, just ask. And, we already have a couple of dogs and a cat on the property, so we don't allow pets, but on occasion we do make exceptions, just ask.

If there is anything else you want to know, feel free to ask. We try to work with your needs.

This rental was amazing! The location was perfect , South Park is a safe and trendy neighbourhood. Amy's recommendations for places to eat were our favourite places to eat all week. Amy and Eber definitely know how to host and had all our amenities covered. Will definitely come back!

Amy greeted us when we arrived and gave us great recommendations on nearby restaurants! We loved the location and found it easy to get around the neighbourhood. The snack bar was amazing and essentially served as our breakfast each morning. We absolutely loved South Park and would gladly return.

Our stay at Amy's South Park location was fantastic - the space was exactly as described, very clean, and Amy was generous in the amenities she provided for our arrival. We especially appreciated the maps that were provided and the restaurant recommendations. Throughout the duration of our stay, Amy made herself available if we had any questions about the space or the community. The location of the space was superb - we spent the majority of our trip biking around the city and the park area. We were also pleasantly surprised at how many bars and restaurants were in the immediate vicinity....and they were all delicious. San Diego was a delight, as was this spot. Thanks Amy!

We really had a great time in San Diego and Amy's place was part of it! It's really quiet and comfortable. We felt good in this room. I really liked that we had our own entrance. Amy welcomed us and gave us precious informations about her great neighborhood. We also had everything we might need, she takes care of her guests. I recommend this place! Thank you Amy!

Response from Amy & Eber:
Hi Vyvienne, So sorry about the bed not being comfortable. I had no idea. But it is a queen-sized mattress, so I'm surprised it felt small. So glad you and Neil enjoyed the neighborhood and exploring other parts of San Diego. I hope the rest of your anniversary vacation was stupendous all the way back north! I so enjoyed meeting you both. Amy

Very nice room in the heart of San Diego. Perfect location to discover the city (next to San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park/ 15 min drive from Coronado island). Amy was a very good host, very welcoming and flexible (as we checked in before 3pm). We would definitely recommend this place.

We like fresh air and bike rides and hikes and trips to the farmer's market on our fat tire bicycle. Amy is an author and teacher. Eber is an engineer working in the high tech world. We travel to places where we can hike and ride our bikes, usually Italy or France. We love Latin America because Amy lived there as a kid. We like to be comfortable and have nice accommodations and hosts, good pillows and the like. Amy is also a savory pie baker, not so much the sweet pies, but she likes a good hearty comfort food pie. They somehow make everything in life better. We love having Airbnb guests enjoy our property and our quaint neighborhood because we believe it's the best neighborhood in San Diego if you want to really get to know Southern California culture.
