Our original 1961 homestead cabin has been lovingly restored, keeping all its mid-century charm. Surrounded by 20 acres of BLM land on 3 sides our 5 acres feel like more with endless views of the desert. It is the ultimate relaxing experience!

We are 9 mins from the Integratron, 15 to Giant Rock, 40 to Joshua Tree National Park main entrance, 25 to Pioneertown/Pappy and Harriet's, and 10 min to the highly acclaimed La Copine restaurant.

The space
Our one room open concept cabin has a sleeping area with a firm queen bed. Fresh linens, down comforter in winter or light comforter in summer, four pillows and extra blankets are provided.

We have a powerful mini-split (air conditioner/heater combo) to keep you cool during the hot summer days and warm during the colder months.

Stocked kitchen (oil, spices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, coffee filters) has two types of coffeemakers; 1 porcelain pour-over filter with a pottery coffee pot and a Chemex. Cook a meal on the 1950s Hotpoint electric stovetop (oven does not work) or heat up a small frozen dish in our new convection countertop oven. There are several places to enjoy a meal here; on the original retro formica countertop and bar stools, original small table for 2 near the east facing window, a vintage metal dining set on the patio or in the new outdoor « room », or the picnic table near the BBQ area.

Kitchen includes: plates, bowls, mugs, drinking glasses, wine glasses, pots/pans, silverware, spatulas, wooden spoons, zester/grater, colander, salad spinner, mixing bowls, oven mit, cutting boards, kitchen towel, apron, placemats.

The full bathroom has a shampoo/conditioner/shower gel combo, soap, towels, and toilet paper. Medicine cabinet has a first aid kit.

If the weather is cold at night there is the mini-split wall unit for heat. Please note the indoor fireplace is non-operational and is only decorative.

There is no wifi (though cell service works great) or TV, but plenty of books, a record player, records, a Bose bluetooth speaker, binoculars for watching wildlife, which will surely pass by; roadrunners, quail, jackrabbits, cottontails, cactus wrens, crows, hawks, lizards and the occasional coyote- though rare. We also have a few games/activities; an Etch-a-Sketch, cards, backgammon, tic-tac-toe, puzzles, a xylophone, Rubik’s Cube, a horseshoe pit and Cornhole game outside.

Outside space: Metal table for 2 on the patio, glass top table plus chairs in the new outdoor « room », picnic table near barbecue, bbq, hammock, lounge chairs, horseshoe pit, cornhole/bean bag toss, outdoor couch for stargazing, fire pit (fire pit is restricted every June-November during San Bernardino County’s imposed seasonal « burn-ban » on outdoor fires which is often extended if dry conditions persist. Outside of those dates the fire pit should not be used when winds are 10 mph or more.

* *Update July 2020 to today: After each booking we automatically block the dates before and after to ensure 24 hours between guests. The cabin is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected by our professional cleaner with EPA approved products following strict CDC guidelines.

Landers, California, United States

With little to no light pollution and wide open vistas La Cabanette is the perfect spot for stargazing, epic sunrises and fiery sunsets!

Our cabin is 2 miles down a semi-maintained, though rough, dirt road that any car can navigate. Still, it is preferable to arrive before dark if possible and it's best to drive slow to avoid bumps and cracks in the road. We do have solar lights along the driveway and on the house in case you do arrive at night. Cell phone service here is great for most carriers; though best for Verizon and T-mobile.

We are in Landers, home of the famous Integratron and its energy vortex and Sound Baths, only 9 minutes away by car, and Giant Rock, one of the world's largest free-standing boulders, the wonderfully random bar Landers Brewing Co., where IPA beer is served, and last but not least Gubler Orchid Farm, down the street from the Integratron. We are about 40 min to Joshua Tree National Park, 25 minutes to Pioneertown and Pappy and Harriet's, 20 minutes to Yucca Valley where there is every type of shop/store/restaurant, as well as the Sky Village Flea Market open on weekends and is worth a visit!

Eats: The amazing farm to table, and highly acclaimed, gourmet restaurant La Copine is 10 minutes away (closed July-August), Giant Rock Meeting Room for coffee and breakfast, $5 Dollar Pizza Place (that's the name!) is about 10 min away and they even deliver. The gas station next door to them has wine, snacks, water…and all other basic essentials. World-famous Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown is about 25 minutes away.
