Our two en-suite rooms are in the oldest part of our 17th century family home of two girls, two cats and three chickens. Both rooms, with open vaulted ceilings, original oak trusses and restored leaded windows, sit alongside some of the latest in contemporary design including Tom Raffield lights, vintage sideboards and a luxurious Victoria and Albert bath. Self-contained, they are reached via a short flight of stairs with narrow tread.

The space
We moved here because we love the great outdoors. So where better, than an area of outstanding natural beauty? Bucknell is nestled among the pine forests of the South Shropshire hills and is a short trip from the charms of medieval Ludlow. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all, whatever the weather, whatever your age. The Hall offers two large en-suite double bedrooms. Come and relax from your busy day-to-day routine or have a more energetic visit in this breath-taking countryside.

Other things to note
Each room has views of the village and surrounding countryside. So does our front garden where you can relax looking out over views of the village church and hills. With two pubs in the village, you don’t have far to travel for an evening meal. If you’d like to explore further afield, there are some great spots in Ludlow, Presteigne, Wigmore, Titley and Leintwardine too.

Location

United Kingdom

South Shropshire is a rural gem – so are neighbouring Powys and Herefordshire. You can walk from our front door to breathtaking scenery in minutes. There are numerous great walks from short strolls to full day excursions.

We’re also ideally placed to explore the nearby towns of Ludlow, Knighton, Bishops Castle and Presteigne. Church Stretton, a 30-minute drive, is very popular with walkers. Hay-on-Wye, known for its book festival and bookshops, and the Brecon Beacons are 50 minutes to an hour’s journey away. The cities of Shrewsbury and Hereford are a similar distance.

If you’re a cyclist, there’s a range of on and off road cycling in the area. If you’re an experienced mountain biker, the nearby Hopton and Bucknell woods are well known for downhill mountain biking. Horse riding in the hills is a joy too. Other fantastic days out include Croft Castle, Hampton Court, Berrington Hall, Stokesay Castle, Powis Castle, Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Land of Lost Content and Bryan’s Ground gardens.

Come and see what our beautiful part of the world has to offer. You won’t be disappointed.
