Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
You deserve time out to rest, relax and breathe fresh air in a beautiful place. Just a few steps from the sea, at high tide you can hear the waves lapping. Listen to the birds; play tennis or pétanque; go for a walk; kayak or swim. Baddeleys Beach is ten minutes from Tawharanui Regional Park with its pristine surf beach, wild life and walks and ten minutes in the other direction to Matakana with its restaurants, breweries, art galleries, sculpture park, shops, theatres and weekend market.

The space
The guest wing of the house includes a stylish bedroom with a queen size bed, bedside tables, writing desk and breakfast cabinet with a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. There is a separate toilet and the en suite has a shower, fluffy towels and robes for your use during your stay. The lounge/tv/dining room has a beautiful view over the bay, a smart tv, Netflix and access to 2 decks, one of which has an outdoor table and chairs and barbecue.

Guest access
The above spaces are for your exclusive use. There is a separate locked entrance to the guest area but you will have to traverse a shared front deck. Guests will not have access to my kitchen but there is a barbecue and microwave available for your use.

Other things to note
Monday through Wednesday you may have to self check-in if you arrive before 3.30pm and on Thursdays you will have to self check-in if you arrive before 8pm. Fridays I will try to be here or make other arrangements with you.

I have a 5 year old spoodle called Teddy who is very gentle and friendly. He will not intrude on your space unless you want him to! You will however, have to be careful shutting doors and gates as you come and go so that he doesn't escape!

Please take care turning into the drive especially if you have a low slung car. Please park as close as you can to the door of the shed when you arrive.

The cell phone reception is not good but there is excellent broadband. Communication is best by messenger or email.

There are tennis racquets for your use on the free community court, beach towels, picnic items, a petanque set and snorkeling gear.

Baddeleys Beach is a very small, quiet beach at the end of a short sealed road and most of the properties are holiday homes so outside holiday periods it is especially peaceful. There is a large reserve with 2 tennis courts, a petanque court, toilets, picnic tables, a children's playground, and a boat ramp. The beach is tidal with scenery changing by the minute and a multitude of bird life. Swimming is best one hour either side of high tide.
There are several deeper water beaches close by.

I am an active mature woman with 3 adult daughters, a 3 year old grandson, 10 month old grand daughter and a 7 year old spoodle called Teddy. I work part time with disabled adults and in my spare time I love to visit art galleries, go to the movies, read books and sing. I belong to a small community choir and we sing mostly folk songs a capella from around the world and have a lot of fun. I also spend time volunteering at Tawharanui Regional Park near my home. This is a large open sanctuary with beautiful walks and beaches and a fence across the peninsula creating a predator free environment where the wildlife, mostly native birds, can thrive. I live right on a small beach, Baddeleys Beach, less than a minute from the water with only two other permanent residents in the bay. The environment is teeming with bird life and incredibly tranquil. It's also only an hour's drive from Auckland central, where my elderly mother and 2 of my daughters live, so close to family, friends and also the attractions of Auckland city. I have travelled extensively in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the United States. My last big trip was to France, where I spent a year travelling around and staying in small gites. I loved meeting lots of wonderful people and a bonus was learning to speak French 'assez bien'. I enjoyed being immersed in the culture of the country and also telling people about my beautiful homeland. More recently I was fortunate enough to complete a wonderful bucket list trip to Egypt and Jordan just before coronovirus changed our lives. At the time I didn't realise just how lucky I was. I love travelling but whenever I get home I always feel as though I am returning to a special paradise and especially this time Baddeleys was a beautiful sanctuary.
