Our Cabin is a little quirky, but cosy & private, nestled in our garden, down the brick path (with steps), only overlooked by our cute rabbits.
Kitchen facilities (self-catering only - BYO food). A real bed with bedhead, side drawers & lamps. Plenty of hanging space & hangers on a rolling rack, plus a luggage shelf. Entry to en suite bathroom outside down 3 steps - part of the charm. Visit us and see for yourself!

The space

Please also check our social media page - The Cabin on Elanore, and our wordpress blog. We also have a web page with wix.

It's a private and quirky little space that we're sure you'll love. Not luxurious but comfortable and homely, and at one of the cheapest rates close to Hobart. Yes, you have to go outside and down the 3 steps too the 'facilities' but you can enjoy the garden while you do it! And there is a light for night trips.

Cabin and ensuite with shower, toilet and basin, plus Tastic type heater lamp & fan. We have expanded the area (in August 2016) by enclosing the Annexe, an area that was under the roof but open, and made it accessible via 2 steps as a kitchenette with sink and drainer, hot and cold running water, 2 hotplates, microwave and fridge, plus pots, pans etc

PLEASE NOTE: We DO NOT provide food. Tea, coffee and long life milk, plus condiments such as salt & pepper are in the cabin, but it is SELF-CATERING. The closest supermarkets are a 25-40 minute walk. There are closer local small grocery/take away food places, but they have limited stock and are far more expensive.

You are welcome use your computer via our WiFi. Please note the WiFi is NOT reliable, it is due to the fact that the Cabin is, effectively, in a hollow, and that Tasmanian internet is not the same standard as the mainland. You may or may not be able to get a connection. No large down/up loads, please, as it is not unlimited.
Table and chairs for relaxing in the nice spots in our garden to use your computer or tablet devices.

The original folding futon bed has been replaced by a real bed (September 2016), with Sri Lankan teak bedhead and base, with a proper mattress, plus two side tables. Much more comfortable for our stay without the previous incarnation's tendency to sag in the middle!

Guest access

You can access all of the garden and the Cabin, and we have one off street parking space for guest use.
NOTE: the path down slopes and has quite a few steps, and the upper ones are different widths. NOT suitable for anyone with difficulty walking. (I myself use a walking stick on occasions and have no trouble, but if you have doubts please check the photo of the path.) You will need a torch or light after dark, although we do have outside sensor lights which cover the garden.
There are 2 torches at the cabin, one by the door to illuminate the keypad on the key lock box, and one hanging just inside the door which is handy to take with you if you plan to return after dark.

Interaction with guests

If we are home we are happy to see you and help with advice about the Cabin, places to go in Hobart and things to see.
If there are any problems with the Cabin, we want to know. PLEASE do not suffer in silence then tell us about it in your review. We'd like at least the opportunity to fix any problems while you are here. Just come up and ring the fancy brass bell!

Other things to note

If you are staying for a week or longer, please arrange a day with us when we can come in and change the linen and towels for you.
We do not have an electric blanket on the bed as experience has shown they are not turned off during the day, and fire safety recommendations are thus not met. There are 2 doonas (duvets) and an extra blanket.

Really great place to stay in Hobart. Great price, excellent value for money and such great charm! Super cozy and all that we needed as a break from camping. Nice view of the city, free parking, close to the MONA and to the city. Nice and private from the main house. Loved our stay and would recommend!

It was a cozy little cabin and had everything needed. It was your quintessential Tasmanian cottage. The view was great. We didn't spend a lot of time there other than to sleep, as we explored the city, but perfect for what we needed.

Odille & Warwick are lovely, thoughtful hosts and made us feel very welcome. The neighbourhood is a hilly suburb, a 10 minute drive to shops and restaurants, and it's not much further than that to downtown and MONA. It's hard to beat these accommodations at this price point.

The cabin certainly is private and secluded from the main house. There are a lot of stairs to get to the cabin so I wasn't able to carry my heavy suitcase down. The bed was sagging in the middle, not very comfortable. I had booked for two nights but left after one night as it was a bit too rustic for me.

If Debra had come to us we might have been abler to offer something - we don't know if you are not comfortable if you don't come and tell us. The exterior looks different as it is summer and everything is in gull growth. Other guests have said how delightful it is. The cabin is cleaned between every guest and the carpets vacuumed. The bugs get in no matter what you do but we have not had a complaint about them in the past. The carpets are not new but they are definitely clean. The description states it is approximately a km to Glenorchy, we do not state restaurants are within walking distance. Under 'Getting Around" we state: Bus runs past the end of the street, less than 5 mins walk to the stops. About 1.2 kms walk to shopping centre, taxis available The bed is made before every arrival, we do point out extra blankets in the box, perhaps Debra was confused.

This is a sweet little cabin situated in the garden. It is very private from the house and I loved the walk down the brick pathway through the flowers and fruit trees. The suite is very cozy and was the perfect place for us to spend out last night in Tasmania. We were able to cook our own breakfast and have hot showers. Warwick was very welcoming.
