A light and airy refurbished 1970's caravan with beautiful camping kitchen outside with all you need to make a brew and a easy meal, set in a young woodland just outside of the village of Great Strickland on the edge of the Lake Districts eastern fells.

The space
You can lay in bed and hear the rustle of the trees leaves and the bird song. A true getting back to nature location with plenty to do in the immediate area and the lakes just a short drive away.
The caravan is lovingly restored to create a modern unique sleeping area.
We provide freshly ironed bedding and towels.
There are candles and solar lights.
Each washing up area has everything you need , scourers, liquid ( we try to be as plastic free as possible, re filling containers rather than buying new each time).plus dishclothes and tea towels.

Guest access
The caravan has its own covered outdoor kitchen and fire but also there is a larger central firepit area and BBQ under a parachute which is communal. It has all the additions to create a simple meal, with candles and solar lights.
You would be advised to have charging faciligies in your car and a torch in case of late arrival.
There is the compost toilet and a short walk down the track to the farm outhouse where there is a flushable toilet and electric shower. There is parking available just next to the woods.

Other things to note
Want to get away with some friends, check to see if our other unique dwellings, Ashkey yurt, Yewberrie yurt and Rosa, our gypsy pod are available too and have few days exploring the lakes and sit around the camp fire in the evenings, yet still having your own unique space.

A 15 minute walk down a country lane will take you into Great Strickland village where there is a pub that serves food.
In the neighbouring village of Morland is a lovely cafe that serves really tasty food during the day and on Friday nights, wonderful pizzas. There is a small shop in Morland, providing mostly local produce.
In the other direction to melkinthorpe, there is a lovely garden centre and cafe for a lovely lunch.
Lowther castle and gardens is an interesting afternoon out and there are some lovely walks in and around the village of Askham, finished off with a drink in one of the pubs. Askham also has a village shop open 7-7.
Ullswater is only a short drive away and where the walks are fantastic and you can hire boats to play on the lake.
Shap has a local coop open 7am-10pm and an award winning fish and chip shop.

This year I am home based to concentrate on setting setting up a glamping site in the woods we planted 20 years ago ! I'm married with three children, two daughters 34 and 18 and a son of 20. We live a wild life on a farm with a few sheep, horses, a dog, hens and geese. My husband heads his own Engineering business as well as juggling work here on the farm.We are both very green in our outlook and try our best to help the environment through our lifestyle. We grow lots of our own veg and fruit in our garden and polytunnels and have lots of fruit trees and shrubs. In summer we have volunteers who help out in return for food and lodging. I love a glass of wine and to dance to music ! we often go to see bands at weekends or have parties with several bands that play in the adjoining barn next to our house. And that's us in a nutshell, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!! Andri and Tom xxx

We both try to meet and greet our guests but we both work so sometimes this can not be the case. Other than that we tend to leave people to have a peaceful and relaxing time together but a quick message on Airbnb and we are there as soon as possible to sort anything that is needed.
