We had a pleasant stay at Muriel's.
1) Great location- pros and cons:
Most tourist spots are two train rides away, but you can access Metro (Garibaldi) and bus stations in roughly 5 minutes. The neighborhood has a lot to offer- supermarkets both big and small, boulangeries, and a number of restaurants of varying cuisines. In the vicinity also is the famous flea market Marches au Puces de Saint-Ouen.
However, it doesn't feel that safe at night. Nothing happened while we were there but it's a place where one should be wary. Everything happening on the street outside is seen and audible, which can make for a noisy afternoon. During the morning and at random times during the night, a person could be overheard, likely from the next door building, who would make unintelligible noises.
2) It has everything you need:
The house is very well-lived in so you have everything you could need to cook, clean, do laundry, etc. We really appreciated the kitchen supplies. Some things are in need of minor repair, but nothing that can't be fixed. We had warm days during our brief summer stay and would have appreciated electric fans.
3) Newly renovated washroom but...:
We commend the nifty nee bathroom but the shower area can be slippery so take extra care not to lose your footing, especially those who are more advanced in their years!
4) Room for improvement with communication:
Muriel had the initiative to reach out with instructions even before we arrived, but while we were there it was harder to contact her. But she was always very kind and considerate when answering, addressing our concerns.
5) Easy transaction:
Checking in and out was very convenient, and Muriel was more than understanding with our requests and mishaps!
Yes. Great value for money.
