Enjoy Tappan Lake at Sadie’s House, my second century home I have designed with the modern traveler in mind who wants to get away to the lake country. Beautifully furnished with three bedrooms and two full baths upstairs, spacious living and dining room downstairs, a freshly remodeled farm style kitchen awaits you. Porch swing in front and backyard lawn for games and covered back porch sitting area and garden for relaxing. Pets welcome and must be kenneled when left alone. Pet fee is $50.

The space
Deersville is a tiny village nestled between two beautiful lakes in Harrison County, Ohio. Sadie’s House is located on the quiet west end of town, walking distance from the Deersville General Store with its famous homemade ice cream. You’ll enjoy a covered patio, wrap around front porch, shady backyard, fire pit and charcoal grill, plenty of private parking, and the full house to yourself. In winter enjoy romantic fires in the four fireplaces (wood is usually available at the General Store). I have taken this spring while waiting for the return of families from afar to reunite and relax in Sadie’s House, to spruce up! We have fresh new plush towels, and in addition to our normal cleaning routine, all kitchen and bathroom surfaces and appliances are cleaned and disinfected with food grade commercial disinfectant after every guest. We want you to stay healthy and safe!

Where you’ll be

Deersville, Ohio, United States

Deersville is only a half mile long and wide! So you’re close to the Deersville General Store and it’s famous homemade ice cream, deli, beer, live bait and most things you might need. We also have a fun antiques store, Hayseeds, located at the other end of town. Hayseeds also has a farmstand in the summer with locally grown fruit and vegetables! Beautiful Tappan Lake Park is just .5 miles from town with a swimming beach and snack bar. I personally love to drive the Ohio Scenic Byway, Moravian Trail that runs through town and the countryside. Clendenning Lake is south on 799, a lovely five mile drive. Both lakes have marinas that rent boats and kayaks. In the summer, you won’t want to miss the Deersville Community Theater productions in our historic theater smack dab in the center of town. Dates change annually. Deersville is now a Buckeye Trail Town a d the trail runs right through the Village.

Raised in Texas, but my ancestral roots are in the Appalachian hills of Ohio. I have always loved entertaining, designing interiors and staging events, so when my great grandparents home became mine again, it was a perfect opportunity to create a guesthouse with history and charm in the tiny village of Deersville. In my kitchen you'll always find the holy trinity of olive oil, onions and garlic, a simple bottle of wine, and lots of laughter! I loved my urban life in Austin where I practiced law, but I moved to the country and now live in my vacation rental when not rented out. I own a business and practice law in Ohio now, and find myself fortunate to have homes in the two friendliest places on earth. I collect useful vintage items for my homes, and especially love objects made of glass and metal. I want to create a combined experience of modern indulgence and historical relevance for my guests, allowing them to feel the history of my family in a peaceful and beautiful home that you won't want to leave
