Location

Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

The house sits on a fenced property in the quaint town of Durrell; on Twillingate Island. All of our neighbours are wonderful and one of them is a shipyard where you can watch boats coming and going.

We’re located on the South Island of Twillingate in Durrell. One of the most picturesque outports in Central Newfoundland. Famous for it's reputation of being the 'Iceberg Capital of the World'. As early as May these massive ice sculptures literally drift in and around the island. We often see them entering the bay from the windows and side deck. In town there are several ocean charter boats that offer different daily tours for icebergs and whale watching! Just up the street is the Auk Island Winery which produces award winning wines from local berries and is also home to a family restaurant.

Be sure to visit the art galleries, gift shops and coffee shops all within a short distance from the Pumpkin House. Quite a few restaurants are open from May to September. From fine dining to good old fish and chips there’s something for everyone. A local micro-brewery serves up several varieties of quenching craft and iceberg beers on tap. The dinner theatres serve up culture, music and a good meal ! There are also several museums and the Long Point Lighthouse to visit. Learn more about the history of the wooden boat builders of Newfoundland and their museum. For outdoors adventure, there are plenty of breath-taking hikes that lead you through wilderness to the ocean's shoreline.

Twillingate is about an hour and a half from the Fogo Island ferry making it quite easy to be able to enjoy a day trip to Fogo, Joe Batt's Arm and Tilting. Twillingate is in the heart of your road tripping paradise, not too far from secluded beaches and day-trip adventures!
