A rambling Elizabethan house set in large garden amidst rolling countryside. 3 double bedrooms each with own bathroom. Breakfast of locally sourced ingredients served by your welcoming hostess by a roaring fire or on the lawn. Good walking and pubs.

The space

There is panelled sitting room with wood-burning stove for guests. Electric blankets on all beds. Tea offered on arrival and trays to make your own in the bedrooms. If fine, I like to give breakfast on the lawn. If it is a good year, I am very happy for guests to take orchard fruit away with them.

Guest access

The garden with plenty of parking, hall, panelled sitting room with wood-burning stove, dining room with large open fire, as well as your own bedroom and bathroom.

Interaction with guests

I like to welcome guests with tea, advise you on where the local pubs are, and if you want to know about local attractions I am glad to help with that. I do have lots of literature and maps and suggestions for walks. I cook and serve breakfast personally.

Other things to note

I am happy for well behaved dogs to stay too. I have two cats but they are not allowed in the guest end of the house.

An amazing house which oozes charm and history. Susan looked after us so well and the pub down the road was also charming.

Beautiful garden and environment. the house is classic for me and I'm glad to meet the nice and friendly host as Susan! I had the breakfast in the garden and under the beautiful sunny day!. The room is tidy and clean. I had some long chats with Susan and I just felt that I'm in the family. Thanks very much Susan!

We had to rearrange our stay a few times with Susan due to the Chase Distillery tour we were due to go on being fully booked (silly me for not checking first!) but she was incredibly patient and understanding. When we finally got round to visiting, we were warmly welcomed by Susan into her beautiful home (we had tea and cake on arrival which was a lovely surprise). She was very hospitable and always ensured we were comfortable. The cooked breakfast in the morning was delicious and Susan even put the fire on for us - it was perfect! We couldn't recommend staying with Susan enough. Thanks Susan! :)

From start to finish (a far too short a stay), from welcoming log fires and lap sang tea and home made buns, from charming conversation to ordering food in the nearby pub, from warm and comfortable beds (hot water bottles - no extra charge!), from great bed linen and towels to comfortable beds, morning bird chorus the only non invasive interruption, breakfast to include smoked haddock and poached eggs, home made marmalade, a real country garden and retreat; this is big "treatsville", and a serious way to experience the real country in an utterly spoilt fashion. I will eat my haddock's head if you don't want to come again!
