Please look for our other listings if you can't find availability on this one. Please note we use AirBNB exclusively and do not take bookings over the phone.

There is someone on site to open the gate, give you your keys and help out with any questions you may have.
DRIFT SAN JOSE is conveniently located, one block from the cathedral and main plaza, in the heart of the Historic Art District. San Jose is a traditional Mexican colonial town, but also has a contemporary gallery and restaurant scene. The cobblestone streets are often closed to cars in order to accomodate the many events, such as live music and outdoor dining. Thursday night is the popular Art Walk - and the Saturday morning Organic Market is 5 minutes by foot. The beach is a 20-30 minute walk either through the colorful town, or by way of a jogging trail, that winds through the estuary and bird sanctuary. If you are staying longer than a few days we recommend you rent a car or 4x4 and explore the desert, the East Cape,Todos Santos, Santiago, Cabo Pulmo or Balandra Bay in La Paz. DRIFT SAN JOSE makes a perfect jumping off point for surfing, kitesurfing, hiking, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, stand up paddle etc.
DRIFT is 20 min from the Los Cabos International Airport (airport code SJD) where taxis ($65) and shuttles ($15) are available to get you into San Jose. Once in San Jose, taxis are always available close by in front of the Cathedral. Rental cars cars can be found at the airport or National has an office less than two blocks from DRIFT. If you have a car there is plenty of free parking in close by streets. Bikes can be rented at the entrance to Puerto Los Cabos.
A tranquil getaway! My friend and I recently stayed at Drift for four nights. We wanted to see more of baja & drift was exactly what we were looking for. It is nestled in the adorable town of San Jose with plenty to do and see in walking distance. The hotel was beyond beautiful with its urban/rustic design, & so peaceful & relaxing. So many hidden areas to hang out on the property! We only wished we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend this hotel for a unique Baja experience. You have to spend the day at el ganza, & eat at the drunken sailor which is just minutes away. Buy some food from the farmers market, and cook it up at the hotel. Stu was so helpful in suggesting things to do and see while we stayed there. Everything he suggested was just wonderful. Having a job in Cabo for a day he suggested PorFavorCabo a private transportation service that helped us get around. They were the sweetest couple & also had so many amazing places for us to see. I highly recommend them if you need a driver while you are there. I will be back soon! Thanks again Stu!!
Avant-garde. Beautiful. We will be back.
I'm not going to beat the proverbial dead horse, stu is amazing and drift is out of this world awesome, made our trip so much fun and easy! Along with being in the middle of the historic district, we got our workout on at La Huerta, a really affordable gym that stu told us about, a few great restaurants: the drunken sailor (marinero borracho), el Faron, el paisa, toro guero, and a little food court- no idea the name but the cross streets are (I think... Coronado and idelfonso green) but be ready to fight off some very pursasive cocinaras! The best part about drift is the ease of which meeting cool people is enevitable! After to talking to one really cool girl who loves snorkeling, she talked us into going for a tour up in cabo pulmo, one of the best experiances of my life!
Me and a buddy also did some awesome dirt biking with Baja dirt riders, amazing time!
The best part is stu is always looking to improve and develop this concept further so going back is going to be even better!!
Stu says in his profile that: "Drift is a jumping off point for people to meet other people and find their own adventures." We can't tell you how well this definition fits our experience. Stu was a wonderful host, and through his recommendations we had some amazing adventures. We found ourselves desparately seeking ways to extend our stay. All of his recommendations were fantastic: Los Michoachan (pork rind chips with guacamole), The Hangman (tacos and the most interesting man in the world), Nostra (amazing pizza under the stars), El Ganzo's pool (the definition of the infinity pool), and that little unnamed ceviche shack on the bend of a round-a-bout (squirming clams and strawberry Fanta). We also have to give a shout out to Jordan and Dawn (an awesome couple we met at Drift) who were the cherry on top of our visit. Can't wait to come back! —Rob and Chelsy
Jessi's mom and brother also enjoyed their stay at drift very much. Thanks on behalf of both and good luck for future projects!
We really enjoyed our stay at DRIFT! Stu is an excellent host and was always available to answer our questions via email before our arrival and while we were visiting. He was an excellent resource during our stay and provided us with many tips for the area and restaurant recommendations (don't miss Chileno Bay and Flora Farm!). The property was exactly as pictured. All the rooms are similarly appointed and you can choose which one you like upon arrival. The location was great in terms of walking around San Jose, with convenient parking for our rental car. We always felt safe in the neighborhood. We enjoyed getting to know Stu and the other guests while sitting around the fire pit in the courtyard! I would love to return once he gets the bar and hot tub up and running :)
We a young couple in our honeymoon, stayed at Stu's place and it is amazing, well located, clean, modern, comfortable, artsy, cozy, and much more (stay there and discover it on your own). Stu is a great guy, we felt like we were visiting a good and close friend. We stay there just for a night before our flight but we are already planning to go back and stay longer. About doing stuff around we think that It is good when you discover a city on your own, but when in San Jose do not think twice to ask Stu for some suggestions and information, He really knows about the things you don't want to miss. We highly recommend you all to stay at the best place in Baja!
This place is a hidden gem in an historic quaint village. The place is really beautiful with the rooms looking out onto a courtyard that has a thoughtfully-designed Mexican aesthetic. The whole place is very trendy and well-suited to young travelers looking for somewhere a bit special yet still reasonably priced. We ended up meeting a German couple there and spent the day on the beach with them - so it is a great place to meet like-minded young travelers. Would highly recommend this place!
Our stay at Stu's place was just amazing! This is the absolutely best place we've stayed so far and all the pictures give you an excellent impression of how this place looks like. If you want to stay away from all these big resorts in San Lucas or San José: this is your place and a great alternative for independent travelers! Stu lives right next to the cathedral and Plaza and the historic art district welcomes you to go for a walk at night. Best place to stay in San José - we can highly recommend!!!
Great stay! Stu was extremely accommodating and offered up suggestions on things to do during my stay.
The contemporary setting is comfortable, clean, and inviting. Definitely stay here if you're in the area. The place is a gem!
