Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Stu was a great host. He's created an amazingly calm and comfortable place to stay in the Arts District of San Jose and I would highly recommend. He has an excellent staff and a sweet dog, Clara that he is training now to become a good member of the DRIFT team. Very nice place to stay and fair price.

  • Having traveled quite a bit, I can say I'm picky about accommodation. I generally look for something different, something in the feel and style that stands out, for a reasonable price. Drift is exactly this. A wonderful little oasis of quiet, incredibly stylish in its sobriety. It is a gem that is not to be missed. Stu is a wonderful host and you'd be mad not to ask for his recommendations on what to do. He will make you discover a Cabo you never knew existed. I would strongly recommend renting a car for your stay, there is a lot to see and it's not easily accessible otherwise.

  • An oasis and escape from a routine hotel experience. Everything about my stay was convenient, comfortable and accessible. The room was exactly what I expected and more. Love the door/windows - excellent concept executed with passion and great taste! Right in downtown, and Stu is great! Looking forward to another stay at DRIFT, next time I'll bring friends!

  • A tranquil getaway! My friend and I recently stayed at Drift for four nights. We wanted to see more of baja & drift was exactly what we were looking for. It is nestled in the adorable town of San Jose with plenty to do and see in walking distance. The hotel was beyond beautiful with its urban/rustic design, & so peaceful & relaxing. So many hidden areas to hang out on the property! We only wished we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend this hotel for a unique Baja experience. You have to spend the day at el ganza, & eat at the drunken sailor which is just minutes away. Buy some food from the farmers market, and cook it up at the hotel. Stu was so helpful in suggesting things to do and see while we stayed there. Everything he suggested was just wonderful. Having a job in Cabo for a day he suggested PorFavorCabo a private transportation service that helped us get around. They were the sweetest couple & also had so many amazing places for us to see. I highly recommend them if you need a driver while you are there. I will be back soon! Thanks again Stu!!

  • Avant-garde. Beautiful. We will be back.

  • I'm not going to beat the proverbial dead horse, stu is amazing and drift is out of this world awesome, made our trip so much fun and easy! Along with being in the middle of the historic district, we got our workout on at La Huerta, a really affordable gym that stu told us about, a few great restaurants: the drunken sailor (marinero borracho), el Faron, el paisa, toro guero, and a little food court- no idea the name but the cross streets are (I think... Coronado and idelfonso green) but be ready to fight off some very pursasive cocinaras! The best part about drift is the ease of which meeting cool people is enevitable! After to talking to one really cool girl who loves snorkeling, she talked us into going for a tour up in cabo pulmo, one of the best experiances of my life!

Me and a buddy also did some awesome dirt biking with Baja dirt riders, amazing time!

The best part is stu is always looking to improve and develop this concept further so going back is going to be even better!!

  • Stu says in his profile that: "Drift is a jumping off point for people to meet other people and find their own adventures." We can't tell you how well this definition fits our experience. Stu was a wonderful host, and through his recommendations we had some amazing adventures. We found ourselves desparately seeking ways to extend our stay. All of his recommendations were fantastic: Los Michoachan (pork rind chips with guacamole), The Hangman (tacos and the most interesting man in the world), Nostra (amazing pizza under the stars), El Ganzo's pool (the definition of the infinity pool), and that little unnamed ceviche shack on the bend of a round-a-bout (squirming clams and strawberry Fanta). We also have to give a shout out to Jordan and Dawn (an awesome couple we met at Drift) who were the cherry on top of our visit. Can't wait to come back! —Rob and Chelsy

I am from Vancouver, Canada but now live full time in San Jose del Cabo. I used to help design, build and market "experiences" in luxury resort communities around the world. I decided to leave this work so I could create a different concept of hotel based on the idea of independent travel. DRIFT is an alternative to package tourism and all-inclusive resorts. It is a travelers hotel - our guests prefer a basic do-it-yourself atmosphere over expensive luxury amenities and services. The money saved can be spent on cultural and adventure pursuits. I currently live on-site here in San Jose with my adopted street dog Clara. However, I will be looking for a full-time caretaker/manager to run the hotel soon so I can expand on my concept - so please, let me know if you know of anyone who could be a good fit...! I have 8 listings on AirBNB - if you can't find the dates you are looking for please try searching my other listings.
