Sahiti, though a wonderful person, made some factual errors in her judgment and the other reviews will support my assertion.
1.We are in the city limits of Washington, D.C., not in Virginia. We are in walking distance to the Maryland border. Virginia is about 15 minutes away - - by car.
2.Our current rate is $11 cheaper than what she stated.
3.Airbnb does not get most of the money. And among all the platforms that are similar, Airbnb actually has the fairest expense sharing system!
4.DC is a relatively safe city. As in any other city, there are certain things one should avoid and I make that clear to all my guests that it very safe to take the 36 or 30N buses - - even at night. She chose to take another 30 bus.
You can even walk to the subway in Maryland during the day time. But at night, I would not want to walk back because there is a wooded, loosely populated area between the three areas you walk through in the short 20 minutes. And, unless it is evening rush hour, you may be the only one on the sidewalk walking over the creek and through the woods alongside a busy road. Plus, coming back, you have to walk uphill.
Though the other 30 buses are in walking distance, they go through different neighborhoods, have different destinations, and different riders. DC is a very densely populated, diverse city, not a village.
