An Lochta is a converted , two story, 19th century grain store, surrounded by a mature and carefully tended garden on a small farm, set in the idyllic rustic peace and quiet of rural Co Meath.
Despite our seclusion, we are just 10 minutes from the M1 motorway, 1 hour from Dublin and within easy reach of the major historical sites of Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan.

(Unfortunately the layout of the building renders it unsuitable for wheelchair users).

The space
You will be greeted with a warm welcome to our extremely well appointed and wonderfully cosy old world charm house in the most relaxing of environments.
Enjoy our freshly home baked Irish farmhouse bread and our delicious marmalade, eggs from our own hens (when the hens are laying which is most of the time) and we provide you with tea, coffee, milk and butter and some vegetables if you wish, when in season.

Location

Drumconrath, County Meath, Ireland

We are located in the very top corner of County Meath, 12 minutes drive from Ardee, Kingscourt and Carrickmacross. It's said locally that the roar of an ass can be heard in four counties, Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan such is our proximity to each.
If relaxation is what you seek we have a beautiful garden where you may take a leisurely stroll or wander our small farm. Our roads are narrow and quiet ideal for walking with lane ways, lakes and forest tracks within easy reach.(Dun na Ri forest park and Lough an Lea both being well worth a visit).
We are well served with interesting pubs and eateries, Tankardstown House, a very fine restaurant is 20 minutes away. Closer by, The Cross Guns, a gastro pub in Nobber, The Wishing Well in Kingscourt and The Courthouse in Carrickmacross are all worthy of mention.
If ancient culture is your interest, we are surrounded by ring forts standing stones and more recent medieval history. The views, from some of the ring forts especially, are stunning with the patchwork of tidy fields and vistas of the Cooley Mountains.
For those with an interest in music, there are trad sessions in Kingscourt and Ardee (Sunday's and Thursday's), folk and bluegrass also in Ardee on Thursdays and many pubs offer live weekend music.
Whatever your taste may be, you will receive a warm welcome in An Lochta.
