The space
Some spaces make you feel good because they are uncluttered, clean, with new furnishings and a great shower. This is that space. Uniquely located in a historic property with a fantastic history (read history of The Bruce House and its amazing journey crossing the USA Canada border below). Spread out in more space than a hotel room allows. 2 Bedrooms ensure more privacy for groups, families or co-workers.

You are renting the top floor of a 2 level historic home- an entirely self-contained unit that has been recently renovated and includes your own private entrance. There are no shared spaces.

This unit is ideally located in historic Shelburne. A very short stroll to the scenic waterfront, award-winning restaurant 'Charlotte Lane', eateries, yacht club and Saturday Farmer's Market . From the waterfront watch sailboats, fishing boats and kayaks and enjoy an amazing sunset. It is a short drive to beautiful beaches, lighthouse views, and 1 hour to the Yarmouth Cat Ferry terminal.

***** This flat is accessed by a stairwell ****
***due to stairs we caution individuals with mobility issues or young children when booking. If you feel it would work for your family - please request to book. There are lockable doors at the top of both stairwells. Feel free to ask more questions to determine if this unit will suit your needs. We want everyone to have a care-free, comfortable vacation.

If you are looking for brand new construction - this is not it. This lovely home was built in the 1800's and this flat has recently been renovated with modern upgrades while preserving as much original character as possible. Original character = lower doorway openings than modern construction, a more narrow stairwell, and if you drop a marble on the floor it will likely roll to one corner. We call that 1800's charm.

The Story of The Bruce House
The Bruce House is a wooden New England Colonial built in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, disassembled (the pieces numbered in Roman numerals), shipped and reassembled on this site in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1855. It remained the property of the Bruce family from 1855 until 1981. The house has had two additions at the back. There is still a granite hitching post at the southwest corner of the property. A dressmaker, Miss Mary Bruce, owned the house from 1895 to her death at age 95 in 1950, and she was well-known for staging theater productions and for hosting tea parties in her backyard.

The property itself was first a farm land grant to James Munns prior to 1786.

Other things to note
This is a non-smoking unit. No smoking in the unit and please, no cigarette butts in the yard. Thank you for respecting our property. ***due to stairs we caution individuals with mobility issues or young children when booking.

My wife and I love to travel, use AirBnB for unique experiences and to stay in unique properties. I am learning Spanish, enjoy running, love coffee and am pretty easy going (I am Canadian after all). My goal as a host is to ensure guests have a great stay. Happy to answer questions to ensure the property is going to meet your needs. I enjoy privacy on my vacations - so I tend to maximize privacy for my guests but can be reached quickly if needed.
