The space
Situated three-hundred steps (1.5 blocks) from the beach, you can't beat this location for North Shore fun. The Kings Beach Cottage feels like a sanctuary located in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Kings Beach. No worries about parking and traffic with two parking spots on site. There is an outdoor 110v outlet near the driveway for eV charging if you bring your own adaptor. A Level 2 charger (40amp Juicebox) is on order to hopefully be installed by mid-September. It takes 5 minutes to walk to Kings Beach State Park and 3 minutes to the best burrito north of the border at La Mexicana (restaurant and grocery).

The space sleeps two adults comfortably (no floor or sofa sleeping). We only feel comfortable renting to guests whose nature is to clean up as they go and tread lightly on the space. If you are someone who takes really good care of the spaces you rent, we'd love to have you. If being very clean and extremely carful with the spaces you rent will make your trip less enjoyable, this place is not a good fit. Please share your thoughts on being a clean and treading lightly at booking. All guests who can treat the space with extra care, leaving it in as good of condition as they found it, are welcome.

The space is simple and clean with a sanctuary like feel. A deck on the street side of the house (except during winter) includes a table, chairs an umbrella and are also two Adirondack chairs, lovely for eating meals, people watching or just relaxing after a day at the beach. The kitchen offers a large island counter for seating and a simple array of pots, pans, baking dishes and dining-ware. There is a queen-size, Purple brand mattress in bedroom #1 and a full-size American Leather Comfort Sleeper sofa in bedroom #2. This sleeper sofa is a very comfortable, no bar, sofa-bed sleeping experience. There is a Roku TV. It is connected to wifi, but to watch anything other than the free stuff you will have to login. There are bath towels and soap for your use, in a beautifully tiled bathroom with a heated floor.

This property is registered as a short term rental. A 10% county TOT (transient occupancy tax) and a 2% TBID (Tourism Business Improvement District Tax) are included in the nightly rate and paid to the county quarterly. At a base rate of $250/night that's $25.00 TOT and $5.00 TBID. Taxes are also charged on the cleaning fee of $130, that's $10.30 TOT and $2.60 TBID.

If you're looking for a community filled with expensive vacation homes, Kings Beach is not a good fit. If you like being part of diverse communities, you may really appreciate Kings Beach. Kings Beach is a mix of small cottages, large homes, trailer communities and much more. It is diverse, based both on socioeconomics and ethnicity.

Everything is a walk or bike ride away from the Kings Beach Cottage - bars, restaurants, fun little shops, and the beach. For groceries, Safeway is 0.70 miles away and La Mexicana in 1 block away. For skiing, Northstar is a 15-minute drive away, and Squaw Valley 30-minutes.
