11 square meters room in semi-detached house for rent, fully furnished with 120cm wide bed, wardrobe, desk chair. Shared kitchen and bath. Short walk to pizzeria and grocery shop, a bit longer to postal functions. 3 minute walk to bus stop.

The space

My house is one of 12 semi detached houses in an area called Hamna, north/ west on the island. The room is 11m2, facing the front entrance and separated from the rest of the house by a small hall. It is fully equipped with a 120cm wide bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, a large desk and a rocking chair.

Guest access

As my guest you may share the kitchen and main bath room with me and my two almost grown up kids. You will have access to my washing machine, fridge, refrigerator and kitchen crockery/tools.

There are no parking spaces for guests at my house. If you plan on renting a car you need to inform me of this so I can advise you if this is possible or not; in winter it will be an absolute no-go because the streets must be cleared for the wheel loaders to remove the snow.

Interaction with guests

Both me and the kids are fluent in english and enjoy meeting new people. If you would like to share a meal, a nice conversation or watch a movie, we most likely will not protest to that. :)

Other things to note

The house is 23 years old and a bit worn; I am a sole provider and of small means even if I work full time. Your room will be spotless but there will be unyielding stains in the bathroom and kitchen which could be perceived as dirt...some surfaces just don't clean easily. I am not your perfect type of housewife and I have a back condition so if you expect a hotel clean type of lodging you should look elsewhere. The fourth member of the family is Aron, my very friendly and happy dog. Your room will of course be off limits for him, but the rest of the house is his habitat and thus there's bound to be dog hairs, no matter how often I vaccume. You acceptance of this is therefore mandatory. :)

During solar activity and clear skies the Aurora can often be seen from my house, but when it's of the less flashy sort it's recommended to go a bit outside residential areas since light polution will deminish the intensity further. If you want to follow forecasts you can download an app for android or iPhone at Visit Tromsø, or follow the Aurora forecasts at Norway Lights. Visit Tromsø will also aid you in booking guided tours, husky dog sledding or whale watching.

Liv was very friendly and really made me feel like I was home. She took the time to talk with me and gave very good advice about public transport, attractions, bars etc. I enjoyed some meals with her and her family too.

My stay in the house was very good! Liv is very kind and helpful if you need anything, and was very flexible both for check-in and check-out. In the house I had everything I needed and the room itself was warm (and this point is very important - at least it was for me - in winter). The house is out of the city center but easy reachable by bus, you should just pay attention to the latest passages during the week (on Friday and Saturday there should be a night bus). On the other hand, being out of the city center, I could see the northern lights just walking a couple of minutes away from the house to find a dark spot.

Happy, outgoing, empathical, loves being with friends but not afraid of my own company. Works as seller and interior conultant with local window dressing and sunshade company. Enjoys crafting, archery, travelling, movies, reading. Prefers historical novels or good fantasy...the fatter the book is the better. Leads historical crafting and reenactment group, fav periods being Scandinavian late iron age and medieval Europe, but also the Celts and the European Rennaissance. I guess I enjoy mostly all types of music but monotony drives me nuts.

I'm a low cost traveller and low maintenance boarder. My mottos are "nothing is carved in stone" and "sometimes silence is golden...other times it's just yellow."
