About this listing

Stay in our cozy 2nd floor cottage with ocean views & breezes right out to Anacapa Island. This perfect location is the best way to see all of Ventura. A seven minute walk to the beach is just what you need each day & that is just the beginning...

The space

The cottage is a separate self-contained upstairs apartment with a full kitchen, bathroom, Queen bed and couch. This is not anyone's residence; the apartment is set up for YOU our guest! In this upstairs cottage you can relax and drink your morning coffee or sip wine at sunset while looking out at the ocean. There is a private area to sit outside with a table. This cottage offers a cozy spot to relax in or be active and stroll to the beach. All within walking distance you can enjoy the Pacific Ocean, grab some fish tacos on the pier, and shop away in downtown Ventura. You can stop into a local brewery or winery or even shuck oysters right down by the beach just a seven minute walk away if that is your fancy.

*The cleaning fee is waived as a thank you for staying with us long term (30 days or longer)

Check out my Guidebook for some great local recommendations.

Restroom
The basics-Shower, Toilet, & Sink area. Providing towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, hair dryer...and of course toilet paper:)

Outside Space
The property is gated & safe and you need a code to enter. The cottage is above the garage with its own separate entrance (guests & property owners use the same main entrance). Your private outside space has chairs & a table to enjoy the weather. Please note the city quiet hours from 10pm-8am. The main house & neighbors are affected by loud talking while outside. Thank you for being cognizant.

Parking
Plenty of parking on the street very close to house. We recommend not leaving any valuables inside.

Wager/Dryer
This is an added benefit of staying with us long term. However, being that we are in a drought please stick to 1 load per week. The location is underneath the stairs. Please also be considerate of the hours you are using the facility as well as it is shared so make sure to not leave clothes inside for too long unattended.

Mail/Packages
Please do not have mail forwarded to our address. Also we ask that packages be delivered to the post office or a local PO Box location. We cannot become responsible for your received items.

There is no smoking on the balcony or anywhere in/out of the property.

Guest access

This cottage is setup with everything that you will need to make your stay feel like your home away from home.
You may also use the laundry facilities (long stay only) so when you get home you only have the memories of Ventura and not your dirty laundry!

Interaction with guests

The main house is also on the property. My Mother, Stepfather, and sister live there. You will both use the same front entrance. However, there is a separate and private entrance upstairs to the cottage. Upon booking you will receive the security code to gain access and directions to the apartment key.

On this note, while the studio is your private space, the property is shared. The entrance to the studio and the house are only about 10 feet away. Therefore, any noise while outside can be heard in the main house. And while we love to share our space with you we are not on vacation:) So if your stay includes a lot of comings & goings at all hours of the night this may not be the best fit. Trust me when I say we want you to enjoy Ventura, we are just asking for each of our guests to be respectful of the shared space:)

Other things to note

Don't forget your sunscreen for those great beach days! Even though I have been in hospitality for many years this is my first time in this type of venture. So I am trying my best to provide to you a local yet luxurious experience. I would appreciate you letting me know what else I should add or fix before you post it in a review. I truly do want your experience to be unforgettable! Enjoy, Sabrina

Whether you are celebrating a special occasion, here on business, or just need some R&R have fun and enjoy what we love about Ventura!

A couple items to note on how to be a great guest:

Please respect our non-smoking policy which includes anywhere in the studio, on the balcony, and anywhere inside the property. Please refrain from any sort of open flames such as candles

We do not allow any outside guests other than the max 2 that we are aware of. If you plan to do a lot of coming/going at all hours of the night this is not the right fit for you as the space is too close to the bedrooms in the main house.

Please respect the shared space of the property. Each guest is important to us; however take into consideration that we live here all year along and come and go for work and play.

Follow the city's QUIET TIME ordinance which forbids parties and loud social events between 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM per SBMC. This includes speaking loudly on your balcony as the home is only about 10 feet away.

As there is no cleaning fee included (for long stay guests) therefore please leave the place in a respectable manner-all dirty linen in the hamper in bathroom, dishes washed and put away, and trash removed, thank you!

Just the basics-The Golden Rule.

Sabrina's place is very clean and well laid out and faces her father's family court yard and is across from the Amtrack Surfliner railroad which runs around 10 times a day but is not very loud. You can hear in the distance the noise from the highway. Street in front of the house is very quiet. The place was very clean and her father who met us was a very gracious host. Very comfortable for one or two people but would be a stretch for a family with children. A very good value and I would stay again

The studio was just as described and very comfortable. Sabrina and her family were so welcoming and extremely responsive — any questions I had were answered immediately. I really appreciate how available they were, and how professional. Thanks for a wonderful stay, Sabrina!

Loved staying at this place. My gf and I called it our little "beach bungalow." Sabrina was great with communication when needed and allowed our privacy. Quiet area with soft road noise and an occasional train. The wind chimes were calming and would lull us to sleep. Great to wake up to the ocean, nice view. Fully furnished kitchen and bathroom, everything you would need and more. If you are visiting Ventura, I highly recommend. If I had to point out a negative, I'd say that the outside gate, though secure, can be a little tricky sometimes when trying to open after putting in the pin code. Overall, amazing value, huge space, and great location. Highly recommended for travelers or people new to AirBnb.

We never met Sabrina but the communication was excellent was the arrival process simple. The flat is close to the ocean and very light, getting the sun all day which in December was brilliant. The view of the ocean from the little balcony was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. Sabrina warns of the noise and she is correct to do so. You can hear the road day and night, it is a busy freeway so the noise is constant and in the background but even with the windows closed, you will hear it. Also the trains pass right behind you, which in the day is fun. In the night, however, when a freight train passes and the whole apartment rumbles and shakes, it can be somewhat disconcerting. I would imagine this noise is true of all of Ventura, the freeway driving right through the town, but be prepared for it. You can hear it all the way to the beach. The tacos are amazing on the pier, as advertised. We don't really like fish but were brave and I loved the spicy Ahi Taco I tried. The provided body boards were fun and we rented wet-suits from Seaward Surf and Sport for only $15 for the day. It was cold, we were not, he fit us with lovely winter gear so the shop is very recommended. Seaward too is well worth a visit. We had a nice time; the pier at sunset, watching the surfers, walking on the boardwalk; breakfast on the balcony. Just only if there was not that freeway right there, but that is Ventura, and that part of the Californian coast in general. So with the ups you get the downs; was our experience.

I stayed at the studio for 4 weeks and it was exactly what I needed. Has a full kitchen with ALL equipment and utensils, full bathroom, comfortable bed and linen, and evertyhing else listed in the description. There is another studio on the 1st floor but this studio is located above the garage so you don't have to as much worry about your steps being loud. At the moment, their daughter stayed in the other studio and I never saw her. I had very limited contact with the house owners. When I did, they were the nicest ever and always asking how everything is going. Lastly, the view is just like pictured. There is a small balcony on the stairs with a chair and side table. I would highly recommend this property to any friends and family and will be in contact with them again if I'm back in the area!
