Where you’ll be

Alberton, Victoria, Australia

We are just a few minutes drive from the historic and picturesque Port Albert. Old Port Trail is a walking track from the house to Port Albert along the coastline. At Port Albert arguably the best fish and chips in Victoria are available. There is a cafe and restaurant here as well. Port Albert has excellent boating facilities and is a favourite fishing inlet. The Maritime Museum offers much historical and interesting information with interactive displays.
We are 20 minutes from Port Welshpool where Wildlife Coast Cruises offer Wilson’s Promontory boat trips. Often whales are spotted. At Port Welshpool the long jetty provides a lovely stroll out over the water. Agnes Falls is a short drive up into the hills above Toora and Welshpool.
The famous 90 mile beach, including Woodside Beach, is a 20 minute drive from the house. Tarra Bulga National Park is a pristine rain forest and is a 30 minute drive away.
Wilson's Promontory National Park is an easy day trip from Port Albert.
Nearby is the Yarram Golf Course which is rated in the top ten of volunteer managed clubs in Australia. Kangaroos are regular visitors to the golf course.
Yarram township is 10 minutes from the house and has a big Woolworths supermarket as well as a small IGA. There is an excellent independent butcher in the Woolworths Plaza. There are two bakeries and several coffee shops in the town. There are two good pubs offering counter meals - The Country Club and The Commercial.

My husband Andy and I are both retired. I was a librarian, Andy worked in the oil industry. We discovered airbnb during a trip to Western Australia. We found it a wonderful way to explore new territory and get to meet some locals at the same time. It really helps to make sure you don't miss the gems in an area you are visiting. Upon our return we decided to offer our newly renovated room to travellers visiting our area. We enjoy good coffee, sharing food with friends, and a nice wine at the end of the day.
