A large rustic Trullo which offers the pleasure of spending a charming holiday in the heart of one of the most unique landscapes of Italy, the Valle d'Itria.

The space

This Trullo is located five kilometers from the picturesque white village of Locorotondo and is surrounded by olive trees and the local oak trees called "fragni".
This traditional building is an example of unspoiled rural architecture. Built in the 1800s as a farmhouse and later modernized, the Trullo balances the old charm of the stone structure with modern necessities, like bathrooms and a kitchen, without offending the original structure.
The main building has a master suite and bathroom and two additional double bedrooms that share the second bathroom, a kitchen, a dining room, and a spacious drawing room with a fireplace.
Adjacent to the main building is a smaller building with a double bedroom and an en-suite bathroom.
The house has been preserved in its simplicity and few concessions to modern amenities are provided. The small kitchen is functional, and well appointed, it includes a refrigerator, and other small appliances as well as a washing machine but not a dishwasher. The Trullo is an ideal place for those who want to enjoy authentic life surrounded by charm and beauty.
The electrical system was updated in 2014 to comply with all current safety standards.

Guest access

The Trullo has a large stone terrace in front of it and a delightful "patio" on the side affording a perfect venue to enjoy outdoor dinners in a cooler setting. The square table set in this patio can accommodate 12 persons comfortably seated .
A private parking just outside the entrance to the terrace is for guest's usage and can fit up to 3 cars.
There is also a little terrace in the lower garden where you can spend time reading in the shade in the late afternoon.
One of the most appreciated elements of the house is its outdoor shower just below the stairs that lead to the garden. It's wonderfully refreshing, particularly after a hot summer day on the beach.
The seaside is about a 20 to 30 minutes drive depending on where you prefer to go. You can choose between rocks or sand beaches, with or without private parking, umbrellas, deck chairs, bars, etc.

Peace, beauty, comfort, relaxation. The place is undoubtedly beautiful, the ideal holiday if you need to “unplug” and regenerate your body and soul. You gather it straight away when you’re arriving there through the small roads surrounded by lovely olive groves; in front of the Trullo there’s an enormous stone terrace which is gorgeous and allows you to sunbathe or to stay in the shade under the large tree. In the evening the sunsets are magnificent. On the side of the main building there’s a “patio" with a big table suitable for breakfasts or for dinners protected from the breeze and further down a field where you can relax lounging on a hammock in the shade of the pine trees. All this bliss is helped by the fresh and ventilated climate due to the position up on the hills which is much more pleasant than in the planes down by the see. The Trullo is cosy, history is still present in the rooms and renovation has been done wisely, with unexceptionable taste, in order to have comfort and functionality. The furniture is in line with the rest making everything well matched. All is comfortable and beautiful so it’s likely that you will spend hours in the large living room reading or chatting with your mates. The naturally cool rooms and the constant silence will give you nights with regenerating deep sleep. The sand or rock beaches are about half an hour away by car, however it is likely that you will want to spend more and more time at the Trullo where life gets pricelessly pleasant the more you stay. In case you need it Lorenzo or his sister Elizabeth are impeccably available and efficient. Finally the only drawback turns out to be the day you have to leave!

Charming place, true to its description, atmospheric and very conducive to relaxation and certainly spacious enough for 9 people. Unfortunately, there was heavy rainfall in the first few days of our stay, and it may be as a result of this that the trullo remained damp inside the bedrooms for several dry days afterwards. Lorenzo (by email), Pina and Mimo (on site) were all very helpful and went out of their way to answer questions and make us feel very welcome. Definitely a place you want to return to.

Response from Lorenzo:
Hi Ian, thank you for your positive words, it was a great pleasure to have you and your family as guests in our beloved Trullo. Needless to say you are welcome back whenever you wish and hopefully next time you won't have to deal with the "worst storm ever" which paralyzed for two days a region which normally in the summer is blessed by the sun and by superb blue skies! :-)

Lorenzo's Trullo is really a beautiful place, and we enjoyed our stay there hugely. We found the Trullo to be just as described and in many ways it exceeded our expectations; it is very well equipped - especially the kitchen which had all the utensils we could possibly have needed for cooking and eating during our stay. We greatly appreciated that all towels and bedding were provided, as well as toilet paper, soap and kitchen towel, which were just really nice to arrive to after a long journey and meant we didn't need to think about doing any shopping immediately (though there is a large and very well stocked supermarket within around 10 minutes drive away). There was also ample water provided for us to use for cooking and drinking (the tap-water in the region is apparently not so great for drinking), and enough to last us for the whole of our stay so wasn't something we had to worry about at all. For the family of 5 that we were there was plenty of room, and we all found the Trullo extremely comfortable. The layout suited us well, and having the use of the external guest house meant that my brother and his girlfriend had their own space to enjoy. Lorenzo was brilliant to communicate with throughout the booking process and prior to our stay, offering advice about the all that having a GPS would have had to recommend it given the Trullo's location (beautifully quiet, but - if not because of being - a little out on a limb!) and provided us with all the information we needed. He was also extremely accommodating, and was always quick with replying with answers to any questions we had. The check-in and check-out were straight-forward, and Pina, who helped with them, very kindly fitted around our time-frame. There is a beautiful view from the terrace in front of the Trullo to the town of Locorotondo, and it was a joy to be able to have our breakfast outside looking out over this and the surrounding landscape. We were also delighted to explore the variety of herbs growing around the garden, and to see pomegranates growing on the tree in the garden! The outdoor shower was also wonderful to cool down (and wake up!) in the mornings when the days got off to very hot and sunny starts. Overall, Lorenzo's Trullo offered us the perfect base from which to explore the Puglian region. We found it to be a place with a charming and unique character, and, none of us having ever even seen a Trullo at first hand, to have the experience of staying in one was something very special. We had a a really lovely time, and we're very grateful to Lorenzo for sharing with us his Trullo and making it somewhere so welcoming and comfortable to be. We would very enthusiastically recommend it!

We had a wonderful stay at Lorenzo's family trullo. We were escorted to the trullo which had already been kitted out with some cooking essentials, which always makes for a nice welcome. The cleaning lady then proceeded to drop off some of her home grown tomatoes and even some eggs. The trullo is not a chichi confection recently pulled together for tourists. You sense many family holidays spent there and some old furniture and paintings lend a personal touch. Just 5-10 minutes from the beautiful Locorotondo, not much further from Cisternino and a short drive to the beaches. When not dining out or in the little courtyard, we had a few picnic dinners on the flat roof enjoying the cool evening breeze and looking at stars - we saw molten red sunsets and relished the cold outdoor shower on our return from the beach. Lorenzo offered us a lot of invaluable advice as to where to go for good beaches, food and restaurants, we did not have enough time to do it all so we shall be back. Many thanks.
