Cindy was very welcoming. When we arrived, she showed up with groceries for us and told us how to get around, gave tips on what to do, etc. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend staying here!

New Year's @ the Cove ! So.......remember Y2k ???? When for months we heard dire warnings about how all technology would come to its knees and anything computerized, digital or even electrical would cease to function, blow up or suck the blood from our firstborns @ the stroke of midnite, 12/31/99 ???? And remember what a complete bust it was? Nothing happene(URL HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN) this impossibly gorgeous and impeccably designed, constructed and maintained mid-priced property in the small fishing village of El Frances on the far N.E. coast of the Samana Peninsula, the Y2k virus pulled off a 15 year period of dormancy, only to rear it's ugly head and submarine my "best-laid plans" for a delayed christmas-over-the-new-year laptop-computer-dvd-blue-ray-tablet-smartphone extravaganza for my technologically deprived dominican family from Sto. Dom. In retrospect, I was a complete idiot for assuming that the common insignia indicating TV, Internet and DVD service and gas grill at the property would translate to high functioning, high speed internet, 150 channel satellite t.v. and all the rest of the bells 'n whistles.... David !!!!! Wake the hell up!!!! Not only is this the D.R. (land of sketchy cel and internet in the BEST locations...), but this is, literally, in THE most remote region of the country !!!! So of course ( 'cuz i'm an idiot...) i fumed and fretted and fussed and stressed for the 1st 48 hrs, trying to force a round peg in a square hole.... bless Cindy's Wisconsin heartland-by-way-of-Norcal patience and her indefatigable positive, helpful attitude!!! She bent over BACKWARDS in her efforts to address EVERY problem! She found us a great grill w/a full tank of propane, found a better internet router/antenna, BROUGHT US HER OWN DVD PLAYER and just generally (and gently) reminded me by her example of what you need to appreciate about the D.R. in general and about this spectacularly beautiful property in particular. THANK YOU, CINDY ! ! !

Jeez. If you can deal with the frustrations of living in the outback as well as you did, perhaps you should consider buying a second home here! I'll rent it out for you when you're not here if you promise to bring or send me more of that wonderful chocolate you shared with me... Just a thought. Hope to see you again soon, and thanks for leaving me a book in English!

Cindy, really. No one calls me Cynthia. My life motto, which seems to work MOST of the time: Que el viento se lleve tus problemas. (Let the wind take your troubles away.) I'm fairly well-traveled and had never stayed in the same place for more than 2 or 3 days during any o…
