DRIVING IN AND OUT OF THE PROPERTY

Please be advised that the road from the highway to the beginning of our driveway is a PRIVATE ROAD belonging to the neighbours with the house and garage near the road. They have rights as owners of the land on both sides of the road. Please respect these rights and help us to be good neighbours by strictly following these laws:

1. Please drive very slowly along this road (10 km/hr max). There are children occasionally playing on this property as well as hearing impaired persons who live on the property.

2. Please negotiate the turns into and out of the first right turn in the road that leads to our driveway carefully and WITHOUT LEAVING THE ROAD.

3. In cases where:
- large vehicles are turning,
- towed trailers are turning,
- vehicles are being jockeyed for parking or
- vehicles are backing up in order to allow the passage of another vehicle,

PLEASE TAKE CARE NOT TO LEAVE THE ROAD. This may involve unhooking trailers or backing vehicles in.

The field is very soft and deep impressions are easily made. Although there are many vehicles parked in the field, ONLY THE OWNERS OF THAT PROPERTY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD.

3. In cases where the rise in the road before the highway is slippery due to ice or snow, DO NOT USE SALT as there are animals on the property. Traction sand will be available for you to use and details will be given upon booking.

Thanks for helping us to be good neighbours and for helping surrounding homeowners gain a positive impression of Airbnb guests!

Other things to note
COVID-19 CLEANING
We have not had to make too many changes due to COVID-19 because we have always had a policy (either ourselves or our professional cleaner) to use disinfectants on all surfaces and to use paper towels. For COVID-19 we have taken these extra steps:

1. We ventilate the space before we clean, allowing fresh air to circulate for at least 20 minutes. If possible, we leave all windows open during the entire cleaning process.

2. Where it is needed, we clean, then disinfect. We use detergent or soap and water to remove dirt, grease, dust, and germs. Once the surface is clean, we spray with a disinfectant, let it stand for a few minutes, then wipe with a paper towel.

3.. We wash all linens at the highest heat setting recommended. That includes bed sheets, mattress covers, hand and bath towels, kitchen towels, and blankets.

4. We line trash cans. Placing bags into trash bins makes it easier to dispose of tissues and other waste.

Airbnb is a wonderful experience because it is more personal. It is not a hotel. It is people sharing their home. So please respect our cottage as if it were your own.

There are NO parties or extra guests allowed on the property. No noise or music other than conversation after midnight.

Please note that while we provide bed sheets, soap, toilet paper, and pillows, we do not provide bath or beach towels. Please bring your own.

Smoking outdoors only with proper disposal of cigarette butts, please.

You are responsible for your own garbage and recycling, either take it with you or visit our local waste deposit site.

You are responsible for your own wood for the fire pit. Do not build any fires beyond the size of the fire pit or in any other location than the fire pit. Do not bring wood from out of town. Please follow local fire regulations for outdoor fires (adhere to any fire restrictions or bans in place).

Please collect all unwashed dishes and place them on the counter. It would be really special if you washed them!

Please note that the neighbours are there for the same purposes you are; respect them by honoring midnight quiet time.

Water is only to be used for household purposes. Filling inflatable pools or using waterslides is strictly forbidden as it may run the water well dry.

Location

Barry's Bay, Ontario, Canada

Close proximity to Algonquin Park, Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy; Madonna House, Crooked Slide Park, Boundless Adventures, Madawaska Kanu Center.

The cottage is 4 kms from the central intersection in Barry's Bay (HWY 62) and HWY 60.
Sunset cove is accessed only by ours and the three other properties around it. It's a perfect shallow wading area for parents to supervise their young children in the water. Bring along your canoe/kayak for ease of access to the Madawaska/York river system and Kaminiskeg Lake. If shade is your preference....choose to recline under the Weeping Willows by the water. Our large deck has plenty of space for lounging, eating and BBQing or simply enjoying the view of the cove.

In 2015 we began our Airbnb experience as hosts and now use the site whenever we vacation or visit family. We have both lived in Europe and we cannot wait until we travel there again with our children (grown or teen). This is our third home that we share through Airbnb. We enjoy sharing this house with those who love its space and location. We earned our Superhost status as soon as we started and have kept it since because we really enjoy giving Airbnb guests a great experience. We have been traditional landlords as well and truly appreciate the thoughtful guests we host through Airbnb. We aren't perfect, but we try our best to provide everything as listed and to make up for any issues that arise. Fortunately, they have been few. We love the simple joys of life, especially conversation and laughter with family and friends. Wine and beer, dogs and children, walks and contemplation fill our lives outside of work.
