Interaction with Guests
Typically either my husband of I meet the guests upon arrival & have a chat about the suite as well as provide information about locking up etc. Other than that guests are free to come & go as they please. If a guest has any questions or concerns they are welcome to either come ring the doorbell to talk to us, phone or preferably send an email if it's convenient. We're a busy family & aren't always around so an email is typically the best way to get in touch.
Renfrew is a well established neighborhood located NE of the city's downtown core. We are a 10 min walk to either the Telus Spark Science Center and the Calgary Zoo, two of Calgary's biggest attractions. The city's train system (called the LRT) is located at the Zoo entrance and can take you too all quadrants of the city (fees apply for purchasing tickets).
The park which is located across the street from our house used to be part of the Zoo as well way back in the 1950s & 1960s! Today, it is called Tom Campbell's Hill Natural Park. With FANTASTIC views of the city year round & prime views of New Years, Canada Day as well as Stampede fireworks, it is a great place to go for a walk. Just be prepared for lots of dogs b/c it is also a relatively busy off-leash park.
Our community is slowly being revitalized with lots of new residential construction. Go down the hill to the community of Bridgeland/Riverside for a coffee or breakfast as well.
The city's train system, the LRT, has a stop located at the Calgary Zoo which is approximately a 10 min walk from our house. You just need to walk south across Tom Campbell Hill park then down the hill to the zoo entrance.
The closest bus stop to our house is approximately 10-15 min to the north just off of Child Ave & Park Cres NE. There are a number of other bus stops to the west of our house down the hill in the community of Bridgeland (Center Ave & 12 St NE both have many bus stop locations).
If you are driving, very easy & quick access to major roads such as 16 Ave (Highway 2), Deerfoot Trail (Highway 1), Memorial Drive and Edmonton Trail. As in quick, approximately a 2-5 min drive to any of these roads.
Other Things to Note
We are a busy, active family and it can get noisy in our house so guests need to be aware of this before booking so that they don't set unreasonable expectations of total silence during their stay. That being said, we try to make every effort to keep the noise level down (ie running in the house) between 8am-8pm. Just keep this in mind before you book!
Leave the unit as you found it, remember that someone else will be using the suite after you leave! Check-in is between 4-10pm, Check-out is noon (12pm).
Any damages will be assessed a reasonable fee which will be deducted from your security deposit. Please also wash all your dishes prior to leaving, do not leave a sink full of dirty dishes.
Absolutely no smoking, drugs, partying or rowdiness allowed. This is a family oriented household so please respect this.
Access is not given to the yard for any reason. If you have a dog you are traveling with please make sure you bring a leash for walking & bags for picking up after them. We live across the street from an off leash park so taking your pet out for exercise is very convenient and they'll appreciate it as well!
There is NO TV in the suite.
Please refrain from cooking foods with strong or lingering odors that take weeks or months to dissipate.
The suite was very cozy and comfortable. The location was excellent and easy to find and very close to downtown! Ellie was very prompt with answering all the questions I had and I would recommend staying here and the price is great! Thanks again!
My 3rd time staying @ Ellie's -
As always great space, great host, great location :)
This bnb was too perfect. We are stay just one night here, but We wanted to stay more time this bnb!!
Ellie's place was perfect for us! She welcomed us personally in the front yard and offered insights for our stay in Calgary and made us feel completely welcome in her home. It was very easy to get downtown from their location and the dog park and open space/skyline and mountain views were a nice perk. Thanks Ellie and family!
The check-in process was easy and Eliie was lovely to deal with. The suite was well appointed and it was a great location that was close to major roads, attractions and downtown. We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you :-)
We found home in this clean comfortable suite for the first 12 days of our immigration trip to Calgary. We definitely enjoyed our stay there: a wonderful hostess understanding and helpful, a very convenient location close to downtown, a quiet beautiful region with a picturesque landscape, nice houses and abundant wild life to watch (rabbits, squirrels, raccoons). We were happy to find everything necessary for a comfortable living and even more than we could hope for (books and toys for our three-year-old to play with).
Wonderful hosts and a great place to stay!
Our best regards and many thanks for hospitality!
This location was perfect for us ... steps to the Science Centre and blocks from our friend's home. Suite was exactly as expected.
Born and raised in Calgary Alberta!
We enjoy visiting the Rocky Mountains and Drumheller regions as well as spending time with our 4 beautiful children.
We welcome guests from around the world, it is a great way to meet people! We have been blessed with the quality of every guest we have hosted so far and look forward to continue hosting for many more years to come!
The dog in the picture is our former Director Of Goodwill (D.O.G.) Walker. He has since passed on and taking the reins is Rosie, but she's still in training!
