Great location
95% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
A car is a must to get to this comfy, rustic, one bedroom cabin overlooking the forest. Gardens and ponds separate cabin (which is 100 feet) from our cottage. A separate path leads to cabin. Parking for 1 car only. Near to beaches, lakes, trails and Ruckle Park. Favorite hangouts nearby: eclectic Kizmit Galleria/coffee shop (open April thru November); also Salt Spring Cheese. We are in the quieter, rural part of the island. Lively Ganges is 20 min. away. Buy all your food and drink in Ganges.

The space
We are following the guidelines recommended by the CDC to provide for your safety. We are using the suggested sanitizing cleansers as well as allowing extra time between guest arrivals to give us time for very detailed cleaning. The cottage is completely separate from the main house.

Salt Spring Island has been exemplary in following safe practice guidelines for opening - parks, shops and recreational services - according to the provincially scheduled phases. We welcome you back safely!

This self catering cabin is ideal for two adults with one queen bed. Kitchen is complete with full electric stove, bar fridge, pots and crockery. There is a sink, shower, flush toilet. There is a comfy couch and gas fireplace in the small living room. Complimentary first breakfast basket includes: 4 local fresh eggs, bagels, butter, jam, coffee, tea, cream and fruit. Big windows and private deck view the forest and gardens on this sunny southwest piece of paradise. We have Wifi but reception can be spotty or slow; this is the country. Cell phone coverage is very spotty on this island. It is good from here. The cabin and yard is not kiddie proofed. Sorry no dogs as there is a sheep farm next door.

Guest access
Guests park at top of driveway to right of cedar gate. Parking for 1 car only. The cabin has a separate pathway on outer edge of garden. You have your own deck, which is quite private.

Other things to note
Fulford Harbour (about 15 min. drive away) has a small licensed grocery which closes at 8 pm, Rock Salt restaurant and some funky shops. Buy fresh produce at the many farm stands (cash only). Ganges (25 min. drive away) has two large grocery stores, government liquor store, health food store and gas stations, pharmacy, restaurants, clothing stores etc.
Bring hiking boots, swim suits. Swimming lakes 10 minutes away. Excellent kayak launch beach just down the road with Russel Island Marine Park a short paddle away... Bring a petzel or flash light for dark nights, there are no street lights.
There's nothing more romantic than sipping an excellent glass of wine, overlooking a forest under the moon and stars, with the chorus of frogs and, if your lucky, owls for company...

Elaine is a retired Dental Hygienist and Wesley is a self employed artist. We have traveled extensively, world wide, in various modes from shoe string to five star resorts over our 40 year marriage. We have raised three children, love animals, gardens and the natural world. Wesley is an established BC artist. Just four years ago our property was wilderness and now it's a garden paradise. We built our cabin using the trees from the land and locally available materials. We are deeply entrenched in living the good life where health, love, nature, music, art, literature, good food , wine all abound.......

The gardens, chickens and dog keep us busy so we are always around and therefore more than happy to meet and greet. We are happy to recommend local "must sees".
