Within 4 miles from the heart of downtown, my home is close to Portland's Hoyt Arboretum, where I also host an Airbnb Experience. 1 mile from the Washington Park MAX Station. You’ll love the quiet neighborhood, one of Portland's most exclusive. A 10 minute drive to city center, yet in a forest. It's an easy 1/2 mile walk to Wildwood Trail, world class running & hiking trails. The private rooms are great for couples and solo travelers. Ample street parking. Small dog on-site. Je parle français.

The space
Two guest bedrooms in a beautiful home in one of the nicest, most exclusive residential neighborhoods in Portland. No smoking.

Bedroom 1 has a Queen sized bed with memory foam mattress topper, and is the (slightly) larger of the two bedrooms. This bedroom also includes a desk/workstation. The large, 37 inch hi-definition TV can also double as a computer monitor, thanks to the connected Google Chromecast device.

Bedroom 2 also has a Queen sized bed with a very comfortable IKEA mattress, and includes a hi definition TV equipped with a Roku device and premium viewing options.

Both bedrooms have ample closet space, extra blankets, pillows and towels.

Guests enjoy access to the full kitchen and dining room areas as well.

Guest access
You are welcome to use the yard and patio, kitchen, living and dining rooms, and you have your own high definition television and wireless Internet in both bedrooms.

There is a laundry room located in a common area of the lower portion of the home available by arrangement. (That portion of the home is occupied a full-time resident.)

Other things to note
Hoyt Arboretum, The Oregon Zoo, The World Forestry Center, The Children's Museum, Wildwood Trail, the Vietnam Memorial; all of these iconic Portland attractions are within a mile of my home. Add another mile to include Pittock Mansion, Portland's International Rose Garden, and the Japanese Garden. Situated in an exclusive neighborhood with numerous multimillion dollar homes in the immediate vicinity, the home is less than 4 miles from NW 23rd Avenue's shopping district, which includes Salt & Straw, the famous ice cream parlor, the Pearl, Powell's Books, Voodoo Doughnut, and many of Portland's finest and most popular restaurants. Notably: Ringside, El Gaucho, Petit Oiseau Bistro, Mediterranean Exploration Company, Jake's, and the entire downtown area. We're only 4.1 miles from the famous Doug Fir Lounge, a popular and very intimate music venue.

Compliance & Permits
Certificate of Compliance obtained from the Revenue Division - Tax Division of the City of Portland. Certificate dated February 11, 2017. I also have the proper Accessory Short Term Rental Type A Permit as required by the City of Portland.

The Sylvan Highlands neighborhood is one of Portland's most exclusive and beautiful. There are several multi-million-dollar homes in the immediate vicinity. It is one of the closest neighborhoods to downtown Portland, but seems like one of the most remote, thanks to the Arboretum nearby. You can literally find yourself in a quiet, 200 acre forest surrounded by thousands of beautiful trees within a very pleasant 10 minute walk from the home. Or you can drive the heart of downtown in the same amount of time. It's a secluded little niche neighborhood that most Portlanders don't even know about. I had lived in Portland for more than 25 years, and driven by it thousands of times before discovering it.

Important note about cell phone coverage: Due to the highly varied terrain and because we're surrounded by hills and parks, cellular and GPS signals can be spotty. Many people experience little or no signal bars at my home. This is easily remedied with most smart phones by using Wifi calling (available free from many carriers) or the free "Hangouts" app, which also allows free phone calls over wifi, provided you have a G00GLE email, which is also free.

During your stay
If my schedule allows, I *may* be able to pick you up at the nearest MAX (Portland's light rail) station, which is located at Washington Park, adjacent to the Oregon Zoo, about 1 mile away. This must be arranged in advance, of course, and it is subject to my availability, which is generally pretty good. I'm a local area expert and host a highly rated Airbnb Experience in the nearby Hoyt Arboretum (house guests enjoy a 1/2 price discount) and am happy to offer insights and guidance on many aspects of your visit to Portland.
