Our carefully restored stone house is the ideal place for those looking to enjoy the authentic Croatian Mediterranean. The family house with sea view is located in the green hills of Hvar, at the foot of hill Hum, viewing the peaceful and picturesque village of Vrisnik, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees.

Within 10-15 minutes drive you will find everything you need, from supermarkets to restaurants. The nearest beaches can be found in Vrboska or around Jelsa, at only 5-7 km distance.

The space
The living room, a former wine cellar (konoba), with an open kitchen creates a warm and culinary environment, perfect for long and cozy dinners. Due to the thick stone walls, the temperature inside the house does not rise too high in summertime. A fireplace can provide warmth on chilly winter days. The kitchen comes with a washer, diswasher and a big five burner stove, with electric oven. The house can accomodate up to 6 persons.

On the the first floor you will find a reading corner and small balcony with sea view. Two fully equipped bedrooms with double beds that can be separated can host 4 guests. An additional 2 persons may sleep either in the attic on a double bed, or on the sofa bed on the ground floor. A seperate toilet and bathroom are found in between the two bedrooms. For families with children there are a high chair, a baby-bed, a small tub and beach toys available.

There is an outdoor fire place and seating area at the backside of the house, and a large terrace at the first floor level with an extended big garden, with view on the hills, where you can enjoy your peace and privacy.

Jelsa, Hvar, Croatia

The towns Hvar, Stari Grad (meaning Old City, in Croatian language) and Jelsa, with each a few thousand inhabitants, are the biggest towns on the island. Spread over the island there are many more small villages, counting up to a few hundreds inhabitants. In one of those villages, in Vrisnik, you will find our house. Vrisnik has 120 permanent residents. A few minutes from our house you will find “Konoba Vrisnik”, a restaurant serving a rich offer of the original local cuisine. Here you may also purchase local quality wines and first class olive oil.

Nice pebble beaches can be found within a few kilometers distance in Jelsa, and a bit further in Vrboska. The most beautiful beaches are on the south side of the island, behind the mountain ridge, seen from our house, in for instance Zavala and Ivan Dolac. In the summertime it is lovely to swim in the Adriatic sea, which is particularly bright and clean. The nature of Hvar is breathtaking awesome, and exceptionally green for a mediterranean island. Everywhere you can see olive groves and citrus trees interspersed with lavender fields.

Apart from the nature there is a lot of cultural heritage to be enjoyed on the island. The island of Hvar has been populated for thousands of years and experienced long periods of prosperity. Many remains of these times have been preserved and can still be viewed. Beautiful churches with impressing artistic treasures can be found in the city of Hvar and in Stari Grad. For centuries people live in the alleys and streets of Jelsa, Stari Grad and Hvar city and are a cultural attraction as a whole.

In the neighbouring village Svirče is a small grocery for daily and forgotten groceries. They als have fresh bread in the morning. Here you will find another nice tavern, “Kod None”, serving great pizza’s and traditional cuisine. For those who prefer a large supermarket there is small mall opposite to the ferry quay in Stari Grad ferry terminal, around 10 kilometers from Vrisnik.
