Sabina and her familiy are very welcoming and easy going - make sure to share dinner with them, you will get delicious Kenyan food and a lot of good stories! The rooms are basic, but have everything you need (towel, mosquito nets etc.). The neighbourhood is very close to a local food market - which you wont really need, cause the delicious breakfast is huge!

Lydia is incredibly helpful and welcoming. She sorted out my pickup at the bus station with a reliable taxi driver, showed me how to take the local transport, walked me around downtown, and shared her wonderful cooking. Her home is close to Kenyetta Market, which is a very fun local experience. She has many rooms to choose from, a comfortable basic set up, hot water, and a kitchen to use. Lydia tries her best to make your stay 'your home away from home'

Stay here! I'm from New York City and traveled to Nairobi for two weeks in January to work on a documentary film. We didn't know much about the city or what we were in for in Kenya, and Sabina was an excellent guide and advocate for us -- she helped us negotiate affordable taxis and drivers, provided us recommendations of where to shop, eat, drink, and anything else. Sabina works with a lot of international students from the U.S. and is able to see Nairobi through a newcomer's eyes. She'll tell you how to stay safe while still seeing the real Nairobi instead of just what "mizungu" tourists see. Sabina's house is a cute, quiet two story building in a pretty, gated middle-class neighborhood with 24/7 security. There were several other people staying at the same time as us, giving the house a family vibe that we loved. Most of the bedrooms are upstairs but there's also a room with two beds downstairs -- the upstairs rooms are more spacious and comfortable, so maybe ask for one of those. There are monkeys that come through the neighborhood every couple of days and hang out in the trees and on the powerlines and they're adorable! Sabina cooks a full breakfast and traditional Kenyan dinners every day and waking up to that is a highlight. There is hot water, wireless Internet and TV. Laundry is done by hand once a week by a house cleaner, which is also a treat. The location of Sabina's house was ideal for us. Nairobi has a lot of traffic in the downtown/CBD area, so it was nice to stay outside of that congested area but close enough to get to CBD, Westlands, The National Park, and get completely out of town with relative ease. Within walking distance of Sabina's, there's a small grocery, a liquor store, some fast food and tailor shops but we were content with that. It's kind of all we needed. We took Ubers at night if we wanted to go to a bar - we went to Space and Black Diamond as well as a karaoke bar. Sabina is a great host, a very big-hearted and wonderful person, and she's easy to be around. She's fun and funny. She knows how to make things happen but will also give you space if you want to just hang out with your own group. I can't recommend staying here enough.

Lydia is a very easy going woman. She is funny and if you have any problem she will try her best to help you. She is also a good chef! The place where she stays is a nice and safe compound. The room was comfortable and clean, as the rest of the house.
