Welcome to Starship Landing: Aurora, your out-of-this-world escape nestled in the heart of Yucca Valley. Designed with the idea that the surrounding area feels like another world, the house is a testament to creativity, with every corner adorned in disco balls, space motifs, and extraterrestrial accents. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sand to Snow National Monument and in close proximity to Joshua Tree National Park, this fully renovated disco, space alien-themed home promises an extraordinary getaway like no other.
☆Living Area☆
Prepare to be transported to a realm of retro-futuristic charm as you enter this eclectic haven. The interior is adorned with captivating 70s decor, creating an ambiance that's part disco era, part extraterrestrial adventure. The main living area has two comfortable couches, one of which is a sofa bed that opens up to a queen memory foam mattress for extra sleeping space. An oversized bean bag sits next to a wood burning stove fireplace, perfect for cozying up by the fire. A record player and Bluetooth speaker are provided to help set the vibe, and with a flick of a switch, the disco ball can be activated, transforming the living room into a space disco haven.
☆Kitchen & Dining☆
The kitchen at Aurora is fully equipped with modern appliances and utensils offering all the essentials to prepare meals. Spices, cooking oils, Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee, sugars, creamers, tea, and much more are provided to make you feel right at home. A drip coffee machine and French press are also provided, giving you options in how to enjoy your morning coffee. For those in a hurry, we provide oatmeal and breakfast bars as well. The adjacent dining table is a perfect spot for chilly mornings, with a fire in the second wood burning fireplace giving off gentle warmth. The dining tables on the back patio is the perfect place to enjoy an al fresco sunset dinner, with plenty of space for all to gather under the bistro lights.
☆Bedrooms & Bathrooms☆
The primary bedroom has a king bed and sits on the second story of the home, with sweeping views of the mountains of the Sand to Snow National Monument. It also has its own private deck, the perfect place to catch the sunrise with a cup of coffee. Other amenities include a luggage rack and clothes hanger for clothing storage, a makeup vanity and a diffuser for a touch of added luxury. The second bedroom is on the first floor and also offers a king bed and has its own separate desk/vanity space, perfect for working from home. Outfitted with lush bedding and blackout curtains in both bedrooms, you’ll find it easy to unwind and recharge. The game room and the "sunset room" (the room off the primary bedroom), both have a sofa bed with a memory foam queen mattress for additional sleeping space as well.
The primary bathroom is ensuite to the primary bedroom, and the second bathroom is located in the hallway just outside of the second bedroom. Both feature vanities with storage, making it easy to get ready for the day, and shower/bath combos.

Engage in friendly competitions around the pool table or immerse yourself in a larger-than-life cinematic experience with the projector, complete with cozy seating for movie nights. 800,000 acres of mystical beauty: Joshua Tree National Park is one of the world’s most incredible natural desert treasures, and at Starship Landing, it is just a short drive away. Sweeping, grand, and populated by granite monoliths and voluptuous rock and boulder formations, this quiet land, conducive to meditation and roaming, was carved by extremes in climate - wind, rain and an ever-present, relentless sun. The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that there are a few supply closets that are locked to guests that house supplies for the rental.

Starship Landing welcomes your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee. Please note on your reservation if you are bringing dog(s) and how many, and we will adjust the price accordingly. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.
☆ Pool and Hot Tub Service ☆
The pool and hot tub are serviced Monday and Thursday, approximately between 11am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.
☆ Cowboy Tub Cold Plunge for Winter ☆
The cowboy tub remains active during the wintertime, offering the opportunity for a rejuvenating cold plunge! Bring your own ice if you'd like to use the cowboy tub as a cold plunge!
☆ Firewood for Indoor Fireplaces ☆
If you'd like to use the wood burning fireplace, please note we do not provide firewood. If you'd like to enjoy the fireplace, we recommend picking up bundles of firewood at a local grocery store or gas station in town.

☆ Desert Wildlife & Safety Tips ☆
The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it’s important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as curious pets can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

☆ About the Owners ☆
Matt and Kristi Kautz are from Santa Monica, CA. Matt is a VP at PlayStation, and Kristi is an interior designer. Their high desert story began with a shared obsession with Joshua Tree, exploring it together as often as they could until they finally decided to buy a place nearby of their own. When they came across two mid-century houses on ten pristine acres bordering protected land as far as the eye can see, they fell in love. Local legends of alien encounters and vortex fields on the property inspired them to transform the 50's houses into Starship Landing: a place for space, whether it’s physical, mental, or cosmic. Today, they couldn't be happier that they get to share this magical space with their guests.
