Rooms by the Castle are set alongside the Castle walls of the walled town of Conwy.

We are ideally located to easily access the Snowdonia National Park and beautiful North Wales Coast. Ideal for climbers, walkers, hikers, and people who love the outdoors. Surf Snowdonia, Zip World, & other adventure activities are all within an easy drive.

With nearby access to public transport, beaches, town centers, quayside, traditional pubs, and restaurants, make it a perfect destination for your holiday.

The space
The rooms at the front of the house have unique views over the town to the Castle and estuary beyond.

This ensuite room has a Queen size double bed in the main part and a small annex Kitchenette with: kettle, toaster, 2 ring induction hob, mini oven, fridge (with small freezer compartment, sink, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, and breakfast bar.

Guest access
Our gardens are plentiful to the side, front, and rear of the house, which you are free to enjoy and can access via an exit to the rear of the building directly from the 1st floor.

We also occasionally host evening events with our wood-fired pizza oven, which guests are welcome to join and be a part of.

Other things to note
The house was built in the 1800's and is a Grade 2 listed building, so is subject to very strict planning regulations designed to maintain it's visual appearance and some of it's endearing features, such as sash windows etc.

Please bare this in mind when booking, it is an old building but we endeavour to make our spaces warm, comfortable and accessible as possible.

We do have limited ability parking & access to the rear of the house, directly on to the 1st floor. Should you require this please ensure you contact us prior to ensure that this is available and we can reserve you a space.

We are surrounded by our own gardens and so it is very quiet and peaceful. In the town there are boutique cafes, restaurants, pubs, Bodlondeb park and woods are literally only a hundred yards away.

Pets are more than welcome and there are lovely mountain walks and beaches all with a short distance of our front door.

I was born in the mid 30's and brought up in Wednesbury in the midlands and moved to North Wales in the 1960's where I set up home and family and ran an outdoor centre (Plas Hall as was) in Dolwyddelan for over 20 years. We subsequently moved and set up a family run guest house business in Betws-y-Coed in the early 80's from where we also ran outdoor adventure courses and holidays for intrepid visitors for a number of years. This love of the outdoors, which brought me to North Wales in the first place, also introduced me to the incredible sport of skiing. A passion for which i passed on to my two sons, and to many others through my coaching exploits. I was instrumental in the successes of a local ski club (North Wales Ski Club) who were renowned throughout the UK and produced Welsh, & British Champions, and several British Team Members throughout the 80's and 90's. My coaching skills also stretched further afield, working with other English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish ski team members, some of whom went on to represent Britain at Olympic and World Championship level. My eldest son Roger also pursued this mountain sport vigorously and himself was a British Team Member, Welsh, Scottish, and Irish Champion, as well as being ranked in the top few in the UK and regularly podiuming in competitions both at home and abroad. Having been on the planet a long time then I have a lot of local knowledge and numerous experiences - from being part of the 1st Search and Rescue Dog Teams in the area; the 1st to circumnavigate the isle of Anglesey by Canoe; to being avalanched and completely buried on the slopes in Austria, I have plenty a tale to tell and enjoy recounting many of my experiences. My younger son Craig is an avid writer and published his 1st novel 'Threat Session' in late 2011. Craig is currently writing the sequel and still lives in Betws-y-Coed. Both Roger & Craig help me with maintaining and running the Guest House, and our family friend Vini is also on hand to assist and make sure all our guests are made to feel welcome and get the most from their stay. Vini moved to North Wales some 15 years ago after meeting a Welsh girl on her travels in India, and has settled here ever since. Charming warm and friendly Vini tries to ensure that you get the best from your visit to the area, no matter how long or short that might be.
