The space
The Lodge is a charming, rustic and historic cottage set in a green pasture. The huge front deck gives you a place to relax and enjoy the view of oak trees. Inside, the rock cottage has original hardwood floors and a vaulted tin ceiling with light and fan. The kitchen has an antique hoosier, farmhouse sink, tiny fridge, coffee maker and toaster oven. Modern mini-split heat pump cools, heats. The wood-burning stove set on a glass hearth provides additional warmth and cozy atmosphere. The large back deck gives more space to eat and relax as you watch the horses graze. One of the quirky charms about the Lodge is that the bathroom is accessed by going outside front door and walking about 25 paces to back of cottage. The spacious bathroom has concrete floors, exposed rock walls, a large open shower with rainfall shower head plus a water wand. There are two other cottages on our property that maybe occupied during your stay. The wifi signal is accessible near the kitchen window and from the front porch.

Guest access
You're always welcome to chat with the horses through the fence and even offer a carrot or pieces of apple. Please refrain from going into their enclosures, though.

Other things to note
Our little Lodge is nearly 100 years old so some aspects will be rustic. Please note that the wifi signal is best near the kitchen window and is perfect from the front porch. There are two other cottages on our property that may be occupied during your stay; the Country Cottage and Carriage House are also listed on Airbnb. We limit our use of chemicals so you may see a critter including but not limited to lizards, spiders, centipedes, scorpions, snakes, etc.

We recommend you check out Dino's and Gino's stores just a mile down the road. Dino's is a liquor store and his cousin, Gino, sells cocktail nuts, candies and more right next door. They have food truck nights with live music (call for info). In Old Town Helotes, check out the Cracked Mug coffee shop, Wine 101 for tapas, Helotes Cafe for eats, pastries and coffee. El Chaparral has iconic Mexican food experience. Cute antique and gift shops in Old Town.

My great grandparents built these handsome rock cottages in the German style and it is my privilege to offer them to wayfarers. Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to work at the ranch. And, now I do, even if it's in a different capacity than I imagined!
