The Spring House is a small, cozy, Private historic Guest House built in 1877. It sits 10 feet from the Main Cabin across the shared brick patio. There is also a shared BBQ grill on the patio and a picnic table and shared firepit outdoors just east of the Spring House. Great for roasting hot dogs and S’Mores. Super stargazing

Dog and Horse friendly upon prior approval from owner. Addt’l fees $25/ dog once.
Fleas/ poop $100!
Horses $20/ nt bedding/water provided.
Bring own horse feed and hay.

The space
The Main Cabin is over 1,000 sq ft of comfort where you will turn the clock back to when this was the General Store in 1828. It is like stepping back in history. But... you’ll have all the modern conveniences and be surrounded by local art, books and games and puzzles. Great for all ages.

Just across the brick patio is the Spring House. This cozy little 192 sq ft cabin can House two extra guests or be rented to other guests. It also is filled with history and has all the modern comforts. Microwave, mini fridge coffeemaker with coffee and tea provided. Coffee mugs, and throw away paper plates, bowls and plastic silverware are also provided.

We are Five minutes from Turkey Run State Park at the end of Cox Ford Rd. Right where it T’s onto US 41. We are 10 miles North of Rockville on 41 and 16 mi South of I-74 on US 41.

Adjust Heat/AC with wall thermostats for Baseboard heat abs window unit for Heat/AC to your comfort.
Alarm system is connected to local fire department
Dial 1+ number to dial out on our landline phone. 911 for emergency help on cabin phone
You may use the cabin phone for local or long distance calls at no extra charge.

We are Dog and Horse friendly. No cats.
All animals must be current on shots and Rabies vaccinations. All dogs must have active Flea and Tick protection.
One time Fee of $25 for one dog + $10 / additional dog. $100 fee for Fleas!
Horses $20/ horse/ night.
Bring own Horsefeed/ hay/ feed buckets
Large run up barn and hot wire fenced pastures. Bedding and water provided

WiFi is available across the bridge in front of owner’s home on Hwy 41. Directions are on the desk.

In the area:
There is a red box movie rental in Rockville- at Rte 36 and 41- just 10 mi South of us at the CVS Store.
Also four Antique Malls around the Courthouse Sq on 36 2 blocks east of 41.

Good restaurants in Rockville: 36 Saloon, new cafe across from the Ritz movie theater and Wheelhouse Donut Shop- sandwiches, lattes and amazing build your own donuts. Sunday’s Maple glazed bacon topped donuts are a real treat. They are a block behind the 36 Saloon and 1 block east.

There are also Burger King, pizza Hut and Subway on US 41.

Closer to TRun. The State Park Inn has a restaurant and good hiking abs Nature
On 47 just 1-2 mi East of 41 there are good local places. Up the Creek ( serves snacks and Rum Milkshakes) and Turkey Run Gas and Grill- next to the High School on the way to the TRun Park entrance on 47. They have good breakfasts including biscuits and gravy. Also good tenderloin sandwiches.

You’ll have a microwave and fridge for leftovers. I’m sure you’ll have fun exploring and find plenty to do. Or just relax and listen to the sound of the creek and the crickets.

Here are some tour and restaurant ideas If you are looking for things to do, check out the Parke County Guide Magazine on the desk. There are 30 covered bridges on 5 different routes. You can drive to all of them Quite a lot of difference between all of them that you can enjoy from inside your car.

Turkey Tun State Park is 2-1/2 miles to the left up on our gravel Cox Ford Rd. Just stay to your left til it meets the blacktop. That is Rte 47. Turn Left and go East to the Turkey Run State Park Entrance. Turkey Run has
11 great hiking trails and a suspension bridge to cross Sugar Creek. Check out trail 6 and Sunset Point right behind the Inn at dusk.
On Rte 47 just before the park there are two places for Canoe, tube and Kayak rentals
A new Zip Line adventure is just East of Shades State Park about 15 miles East on Rte 47.

10 mi S on 41 is Rockville, with its old Courthouse square, Art Gallery, old 5&10 cent G&M variety Store, 5 antique malls, a CVS with Red Box movie rentals, Pizza Hut, Subway, Burger King , Benjamin’s Restaurant 2 mi E on Rte 36 ( turn left at Burger King). Also a neat place with peanut shells on the floor and large stuffed animal trophies all over is the 36 Saloon. Wheelhouse Donuts has a coffee/ Latte bar and design your own donuts or wraps.
Sun they make Maple frosted donuts with Bacon!
Running 15 miles might about burn off one or two!
There is a cool old Jail House Inn with Wine Bar in the basement. It is on the SE corner of the courthouse square.
Hope you find plenty to do, or just relax.

Turkey Run Inn has a big soup and salad bar and serves all 3 meals and a Sun buffet.

Closer to the cabin, just 2 mi s on our gravel Cox Ford Rd - stay left, then turn left onto pavement that is Rte 47. Turkey Run Gas n Grill, and Up the Creek serve short order food that many like. Also ice cream there and at Gobbler’s Knob Country Store on US 41 just S of Historic Jungle Park Auto raceway . 1 mile further East on 47 is Turkey Run State Park. Nice Nature Center is behind the swimming pool. 2 pm planetarium Star Show, 3 pm Historic Lusk Home house tour ( East edge of park 1 mi N on Narrows Rd. )

*NOTE- May-Sept 2020 US-41 just N of our turn off to Cox Ford Rd is CLOSED due to bridge construction.
Seek alternate route if coming from the NORTH.
Coming in from Crawfordsville is a good way. Take 231 S to 47.
Follow 47 for 28 miles till it drops you at US-41 just 1.5 miles from our Big Sign. Turn North ( Right) onto 41- you may ignore the Road Closed 2.7 miles ahead Sign since we are just 1.5 mi North of the intersection of 47 and 41.

I look forward to helping visitors enjoy a great getaway vacation in scenic Covered Bridge Country here next to Turkey Run State Park. We have 40 acres of private land next to the park. The Wilkins Mill Covered Bridge is right on the property. I enjoy hiking and horseback riding, travel and gardening.
