Welcome to our home.

For the last 3 years we have been rebuilding our home in the middle of a Belizean jungle right on the Belize River. This very spacious home has an open concept kitchen / living room with a master bedroom an on-suite bathroom. Our home comes with hydro, AC, hot water shower, flush toilet and laundry facilities

Our home is located in the village of Scotland Halfmoon just outside of Bermudian Landing.

We look forward to sharing our home with you!
Arie and Norma

The space
Our home is almost 1000 square feet built off the ground and has a huge additional 1000 square foot spacious deck that wraps around the entire house.

The deck is an amazing place to view many many species of birds, lizards and our famous Black Howler Monkey’s.

Guest access
Our home is part of a 45 acres farm where we have in recent years planted close to 500 coconut trees.

Besides being located right on the Belize River we have 2 large 300ft x 50ft x 10ft deep ponds that attract all sorts of wildlife including crocodiles, jaguars, tapirs and more species of birds then one can hope for.

Our home really is a wildlife paradise. Black Howler monkey’s are very common and can be heard at almost any time during the day. There are over 600 species of birds found in Belize and I am sure almost half those species can be found in our area at some point in the year. While jaguar sighting can be rare for the average person. Jaguar sightings and tracks are very common on our road. Fishing can be done from the Belize River or our fish ponds.

Other things to note
The Community Baboon Sanctuary is a protected area established in 1985 to help protect the black howler monkey from threats of hunting, logging and agriculture.

All rent moneys collected on the farm are used for the day to day maintenance of the farm and to help employ local Belizeans. The rent monies collected never leaves the country of Belize.

Our [near] future plans for the farm is to start a tree farm raising Mahogany trees for reforestation of rainforest and to help replenish the Mahogany tree that was largely removed (and never replanted) by the British in the 1800’s. We are very excited about this project and plan to dedicate vast portions of our resources into this project. More details to come!

Location

Belize District, Belize

Our home is at the end of a dead road that ends at the Belize River. The village of Scotland Halfmoon is at the intersection of the main road. It takes approximately an hour to walk the length of our road. Our closest neighbor is probably half way down the road (30-35 minute walk away).

The village has a small convenient store with some of the essentials. A larger convenient store and gas station is located in the next village of Bermudian Landing.

Our road is an amazing location for wildlife and bird viewing. Our home is completely surrounding by jungle.

We have a hope and desire to eventually live in our home in Belize full time; until then our home is your home. Our dream and passion is to use the farm to raise important biologically and ecologically seedling trees for reforestation of rainforest and jungle. We am hoping to start this project in early 2019. All rental moneys collected remain in the country of Belize to help start the tree farm and employ locals to maintain the farm and future tree farm.
