Welcome to Oscar’s House, the oldest Bed and Breakfast on Ocracoke Island.
Oscar’s began in 1984 in this comfortable historic house built in 1940 for Capt. Joseph Burrus, Ocracoke’s lighthouse keeper for 16 years. The house is named for Capt. Joe’s son, Oscar. Although this house has been operating as a B&B for 34 years, this will be its first year under new ownership!

Please join us, Robin and Chad Macek, in our new adventure! Come along as we learn more about the island and the B&B business!

The space
Oscar’s House is a historic landmark in the Village of Ocracoke. What looks like a small cottage on the outside, once entered becomes a big, beautiful old space with so many unique parts. Oscar’s was built in 1940 by Captain Joe Burrus, Ocracoke’s last lighthouse keeper.

All of our rooms have a homey feel with a modern touch. Each has its own half bath. There are two showers, one inside the main bathroom, and everyone’s favorite, the outdoor shower which is roomy and wonderful!

We have four bedrooms for rent. Only two (2) guests permitted per room. We will be open as a bed and breakfast all year.

Guest access
Aside from the bedroom, guests are welcome to use the living room, until 10pm. We have found that most of our guests are tired from enjoying the beach and bicycling around all day that most are going to bed fairly early so we try to make sure the house is quiet.

Guests also have use of the kitchen, with the exception of the stove/oven as it’s old and finicky..but we love it!

There are also two decks and a nice yard to utilize. Many of our guests enjoy a glass or two of wine on the deck before or after heading out to dinner.

Other things to note
Please let us know if you have any food allergies, preferences, vegetation or vegan needs etc. We do our best to serve a big breakfast that everyone can enjoy!

We have bicycles here for your use during your stay, free of charge.
