Little Venice, London, England

London is a bunch of villages really. Little Venice is exactly that...The canal walks are the best in London: whether you’re looking for a relaxing spot by the canal or a traditional pub, you’ll find the waterside cafes, cosy pubs and charming restaurants.
There is also the buzz of Middle Eastern restaurants on Edgware Road, with its shisha cafes etc...
Nearby attractions include The Sherlock Holmes Museum, Madame Tussauds, and Abbey Road Studios, as well as green spaces like Regent’s Park, and Hyde Park.
Attractions like the London Eye, Sea Life London Aquarium, Big Ben, and the Museum of London are also very easily accessible via tube or bus.

Hello, and welcome to my home….

This is a short general guide destined to make your stay in the area a little bit more special…i hope it helps!

Little Venice & Maida Vale is a residential area, but has quite a few places for drinks and diner…..here are a few of my favourites
in no particular order..

Everyone has “the best indian in London” close to their place, and so do i…. and it’s right across the street! Look out the window, it’s called Akash. And it’s excellent..
I have lived here for 24 years, it’s always been there, i can’t recommend it enough…they do take away as well.
500A Edgware Road.

If you walk out the flat and go left, you will find Gogi, a Korean restaurant, i have only been there a couple of times, it’s good & it is very popular…
451 Edgware Road

Sitting across the Canal is Laville, a very picturesque cafe, that serves brunch, lunch and diner.. nothing fancy, busy at weekends, hard to beat the view in my opinion….(try the eggs benedict)
453 Edgware Road.

Carry on walking on Maida Vale for 250 meters, you will find Clifton Road on the left hand side.
There you will find a Tesco Metro, easy option to buy milk and food if you need, there is also an organic fruit & veg shop and a butcher….There are 2 places for lunch/brunch that are very good and very popular.

-Baker & Spice at 20 Clifton Rd.
-Raouls at 13 Clifton Rd.

Tucked away on Lanark Place is Maguro, delicious sushi place, a bit expensive and a “must book” as it is tiny, but worth it..they do take away as well.

After Baker & Spice, take a right onto Randolph Avenue, walk for 300 meters and meet one of my favourite pubs of all time, The Warrington Hotel, an old art deco Building, popular with neighbours… fantastic in the summer as well as you can sit outside
93 Warrington Crescent.

Carry on walking down Warrington Crescent till you hit Formosa Street on the right hand side..There are a couple of nice shops there.
Food wise, try these 2 places..
Red Pepper Pizza at 8 Formosa St
Prince Alfred Pub at 5A Formosa St, great pub, check out the interesting layout inside, they have a restaurant/brasserie type next door.

Walk up Formosa St till you hit the canal again and you’ll find The Waterway, bar and food, great place to spend an afternoon in the sun.I love it there..it does get busy though!
54 Formosa St.

Time to get home! (maybe?), walk along Blomfield Road and follow the canal and you’ll hit Edgware Rd again.Be amazed by the beautiful and very expensive houses along the way.. we have a few Rock Stars living around if you are lucky!

Of note, Clifton Nurseries is a very nice garden centre, tucked away behind beautiful houses.. they have a cafe there too.
5A Clifton Villas.

You can take a boat from Little Venice all the way to Camden Town, it takes about 45 mins..past London Zoo and Primrose Hill.
Personally, i walk along the canal to Camden on the same route.Start walking from Aberdeen Place across the street from the flat(check it out on a map first, as it can be a bit confusing initially)

Regents Park & Primrose Hill are respectively 15 and 30 minutes walk from home, Primrose Hill offering one of the best views of London.

Hyde Park is at the end of Edgware Road, and is about 20 minutes walk….

The easiest way to get into the West End is by tube or bus..
The nearest tubes are Edgware Road (Bakerloo Line) (District& Circle Line ), and Warwick Avenue (Bakerloo Line).
Paddington is a little further away but walkable distance, and from there you can get on the Heathrow Express to Heathrow Airport if you need.

Buses are very convenient…Out the door and turn right, on the other side of the road is the nearest bus stop (Orchardson St is the name of the stop)
Number 6 will take you to Piccadilly and further, via Park Lane, runs day & night.

Same for number 98 it will take you down Oxford Street all the way to Tottenham Court Road and beyond, also day and night.

Number 16 will take youth Victoria, very convenient for the Gatwick Express to Gatwick Airport..same thing, day & night.

You will find all sorts of cafes, shisha places and wonderful Middle Eastern food on Edgware Road, all the way to Hyde Park, the original Maroush at 21 Edgware Road is very good…lots of restaurant come and go in the are, so it is hard to recommend any other ones..

I hope you found this short guide useful for your stay, i will ask you NOT to remove it from the flat so that my next guests can enjoy it the way i hope you did….

Have a great stay in London and at the flat!

And thank you for choosing my place, amongst the many available in London! I appreciate it.

All the best.

JC, your host. :)
