Our 1976 Carriage camper has been updated to provide all the comforts of home with the joys of camping. It's located in our 1 acre back yard and has its own private driveway. Our property has the feel of the farm in the midst of the city. Enjoy watching our animals and enjoy a campfire and S’mores in the evening - firewood is provided.

This is a camper. We work diligently to keep it clean and free of bugs for your stay - but our lot is wooded and bugs can and do find their way into the camper. This is a camping experience! As you go in and out of the camper you will likely track in all of the outdoors with you, as you sleep you will hear all the sounds of the city and nature, and during your stay, you will experience all the coziness of a tiny homestay.

While this is a camper, it is still a camping experience - it is not anything like a hotel or a home-share. The bathroom is a camper bathroom. It is very small and somewhat cramped to fit all the amenities of a bathroom into the camper. The camper toilet requires chemical treatment to process the waste and that can produce that classic "camper toilet" smell. There is a small rust stain on the shower floor, but we promise, it's clean. There is no door directly to the bathroom since it is such a small space but the curtain dividing the living area with the sleeping area also acts as a divider for the bathroom. The camper has one queen bed and one full-sized futon as well as an air mattress for extra guests. This can be done - but while sleeping there won't be much room left for anyone to move around.

Special consideration for fall camping: Please be aware that the fall is “stink bug” season and it is nearly impossible to keep the camper free of this type of beetle. If you arrive and there are “stink bugs” on the walls please let us know and we will come down and remove them for you.

Special consideration for winter camping: when temperatures dip below freezing there will be NO RUNNING WATER available in the camper. Therefore, we will turn the water off at the first freeze, and there will be no water until spring. If you are concerned, please send us a message before booking and we can let you know if the water is on or off. Bottled water will be provided as well as sufficient heat.

The camper does have an electric skillet for cooking and a coffee maker for making coffee. As it has a small electric supply there are times that the breaker may switch off and need to be turned back to the on position if you run too many appliances at the same time.

When supply is good I love to leave my guests fresh eggs for breakfast!

There is air conditioning as well as a heater for cold months to keep you comfortable year round. During extremely cold weather (temperatures under 20°F) it may be difficult for the heater to keep the camper as warm as a traditional home or a newer RV, many of our cold weather guests have been perfectly comfortable but please keep this in mind when booking or packing for your trip.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT LOCATION: Be aware that we are still in the city, so while the sights in the backyard may be deceiving - city noises can and do happen. In the winter months when there are no leaves on our trees the camper will not feel as secluded and “country” as it will feel in the spring through fall since we are in an urban area. Also, be aware that you may drive through urban areas, low-income communities, or other city sights as you drive to my home. THIS IS NOT A RURAL AREA, even if the photos look like it might be. This is an urban area with all the sights and sounds of an urban area. Our home is safe and quiet, we have lived here more than five years and love this location - we hope you will too.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT WATER: During cold weather that falls below freezing - there will NOT be access to running water in the camper. Our water line for the camper runs above ground which means it must be disconnected when temperatures fall below freezing. We will provide bottled for cooking, drinking, brushing teeth, etc. - but there will NOT be running water for showers during freezing temperatures.

Guest access
When you arrive you may park in the private drive and self check in. The entire back portion of the yard is yours to enjoy! There is a fire pit that is great for roasting marshmallows!

We are a family of five who love the outdoors, having fun, and working hard.
During your stay
You can have as much privacy as you desire. We are a busy family and are often in and out, but will be available if needs arise. Our children do play in the back yard, but do not go beyond the gate to the camper when guests are around.
