Although I didn't personally meet Ricardo, we kept in touch through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). He left a couple treats on the table to welcome us which was much needed since we arrived late at night. The apartment was immaculate and the view was stunning. The weather was hot and the fan was not working but the breeze helped out a lot. The location was central and right next to the University. The building is very new and despite its university tenants, the weekend was not noisy at all. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return.

He bought some groceries for our arrival. The neighborhood was not exactly where we wanted to be because there was not as much to do near the campus, but it was the closest you could get to the campus. If you are looking for the easiest commute to PUCRS you won't find closer, just cross the street. It was nice being on the top (18th floor) because the view was beautiful especially at sunset, and there were not any bugs to deal with. We needed to take taxis back from the grocery stores nearby to bring our groceries, but if you have a car they are not far. The pool was nice, even though we did get called out for drinking a beer each and having a music speaker. There is a soccer court and workout room for people looking to be active. In the summer, the pool is great to have because it gets so hot. Did not have a ton of pots and pans for long term meal preparations, but did have a washer and strong fans to dry clothes with. The beds could be improved on, and the vacuum is kinda small, but there is hot water in the showers and a nice tv in the bedroom. The tv in the living room is pretty ancient. Overall, it might be a better fit for somebody else, but we made it work and enjoyed some aspects. Ricardo was very easy to communicate with and prompt to respond.

Response from Ricardo:
Thank you for your feedback Trevor, this exactly the type of inputs I need so that I can improve my space, which I am committed to continue improving. I had never received feedback about the items you mentioned, but I will definitively provide a better vacuum, upgrade the living room TV, replace beds if needed and also provide another set of pots and pans for long term staying folks. These are the things I can work to improve and I will definitively have them ready for the next guest. In regards of taking a cab to pickup groceries, did you find Carrefour which is only 3 blocks away? I will make sure this is in the welcome letter next time, because I never had any complains about distance to pickup groceries considering its only a 3 block walk. Drinking alcohol around the pool area and putting music on is against the building policies and this is pretty much a standard practice around most condominiums here, there is nothing I can do about this other than making it very clear on the welcome letter-- I will make sure this gets added. If there is anything else I can do, please let me know and I will be happy to improve my space. Again, thanks for your feedback!

We spent a week at Ricardo's apartment, which is on the top floor of an 18 storey apartment block, located in a secure area about 25 minutes by bus from the city centre. It is next door to the PUCRS (university) and is very well serviced by public transport. Ricardo made us feel very welcome and assisted us with information regarding public transport and location about supermarkets, the city market and good restaurants to eat at which were located near the apartment. The description of the apartment was accurate but he did leave out information regarding some of the facilities within the building; swimming pool, pool tables, self-contained BBQ area as well as a small enclosed football pitch.

Brilliant apartment as a base for visiting Porto Alegre! Very convenient location (next to PUC and nearby the main transport links) and also very safe & secure. Great views, too! Ricardo is a great host and all-round good guy! He has great local knowledge (Porto Alegre is his hometown so he has a lot of great tips about the city...!) - and he speaks perfect English - it was very easy to organise everything with him. Especially if you are visiting PUC / Tecnopuc it is absolutely the best choice! The location is directly across the street so it couldn't be better! I would definitely stay here again on future visits to Porto Alegre. Big thanks to Ricardo!
