The house is wonderful - large, airy, beautifully decorated, privately located - with waves crashing close by. The caretakers are friendly and accommodating. With a car, Las Galeras is 10 minutes away with everything you could need without being too touristy. It helps to speak Spanish or French, but isn't necessary. Cindy, the host, stopped by to welcome and acclimate us to the area and is easily accessible for questions. You can easily spend your days at the house, relaxing by the pool, or exploring the Samana shore and countryside. I would not hesitate to recommend this house, or come back ourselves - it was an absolutely lovely week we spent there.

Hi Vivian, The owners, Sandra and Radhames and I are all glad to know you enjoyed your stay and hope you can visit again one day... Thank you for mentioning the housekeeping schedule. We have spoken with Sandra and think we have worked out a method that will prevent the same thing from happening to future guests. From now on I will ask guests to open the front door in the mornings in order to signal to her that it is alright to start cleaning. Thanks again for staying! Cindy

The pictures truly do not give justice as to how spectacular the home is. You have way more room in the home then we had anticipated. Absolutely beautiful! The family that stays in their own home on the property are the best people I have met. They made us feel secure and let us have a bon fire on the beach next the waves smashing into the rocks. They also helped us cook and cleaned daily. I have never met such kind people. I stayed at two places in the Dominican and this one I wished I stayed at the entire time. Cindy is also amazing. Extremely helpful and kind. At one point my ATM card wasn't working and she even offered to cover me some cash until I got the issue with the bank resolved. We didn't have to do that but she was so kind and caring to offer. This property has a beach but you cant swim due to the rocks. There are amazing beaches close by. We were a bit Leary about not having a swimmable beach but once you see the waves hitting the rocks you don't care about a short dive to a local beach. Playa Ricon beach was 10 times better then Punta Cana's beaches as well. It is remote but if you want to experience the DR then stay away from the resort and stay here. I judge by whether or not I would come back. I would come back here in a heart beat. Thanks Cindy!

Response from Cynthia:
Villa Punta Coral is a spectacular home in an incredible location and the owners and I are so glad you and your girlfriend enjoyed it enough to give the villa and us (Radhames and Sandra and me) such a generous and kind review. I wish, too, that you had stayed longer as three days really isn't enough to explore all the wonderful things this part of the country has to offer. As they say here in the DR, (Estamos a sus ordenes) we are at your service should you decide to come back :-) I will tell Sandra and Radhames how much you appreciated their services. They really are wonderful folks and the owners and I are fortunate to have them.

We've just back from a short, 29 days stay at the villa . It's way better than what you see on the pictures, ocean is a lot closer, the sun is a lot warmer and bright, the only thing I regret is the short, short time we spent there! We were party of six people and there's enough space for 8 really. Cindy arranged everything on our complicated late night arrival and was there whenever we needed some help (even acted as translator on the phone) and gave us some good and useful advices on the neighborhood and places to visit. As I mentioned earlier the only thing that was missing was more time to enjoy this heaven on earth. We're definitely going to be back.

The owners and I appreciate your decision to stay at the villa in Las Galeras and are grateful for your kind review. I think you clearly captured in your review what the villa offers: a spot with one leg in heaven and the other on earth! The owners put a lot of time and effort into continually improving the villa and when they aren't using it, it is their pleasure that other people enjoy it. We sincerely hope we will have the opportunity to host you at Villa Punta Coral in the future.

This was our first time visiting Samana (and first time using airbnb) and although our destination was actually Punta Cana, we decided to stay in Samana at the last minute. Cynthia was great at accommodating our needs and meeting us half way with our accommodations. We did not get the Villa we had booked through Cynthia but she made all attempts possible to make sure that we were happy. We ended up in a 2 bedroom condo with a loft. We woke up every morning looking at the beach, it was beautiful! My nieces had a great time and hardly ever came out of the pool! We felt safe there and I went for runs along the beach on the roads every morning. The locals were helpful and respectful. I had my reservations about how the trip would turn out when I got off the plane and received a call from Cynthia that the Villa was not available. But she really made it a point to make sure that we were enjoying ourselves. She was great to communicate with, always had a pleasant smile, and was available when we needed her! The condo came with a fully equipped kitchen which we often used but we also got a few meals from the lady across the street selling fried fish and plantains! The condo also had clean towels, fresh sheets, washer/dryer, bottled water, and AC in all the rooms. The loft was very warm since the AC was not working there but Cynthia gave us an extra fan to use and that helped! The area was peaceful and although we did not get the Villa, we really enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely contact Cynthia again when we visit Samana. I have family in the Dominican Republic and will definitely be recommending her to them! She worked quickly and was truly concerned with making sure we were accommodated. Thank you Cynthia for making what could've been a nightmare into an experience with great memories.

Response from Cynthia:

Thanks for staying with us! Both the owners and I are delighted to know you enjoyed your time in the area. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and helpful review. Although Brazil is a ways away, we do hope you can visit again one day. And hopefully stay longer the next time. The villa is very special during whale watching season late December through March.

Cindy, really. No one calls me Cynthia.

My life motto, which seems to work MOST of the time: Que el viento se lleve tus problemas. (Let the wind take your troubles away.)

I'm fairly well-traveled and had never stayed in the same place for more than 2 or 3 days during any of my travels, though I was often gone from my northern California home for months at a time. Then, because I’ve always been drawn to “end of the road” places, I “ended up” in Las Galeras. I moved here a year later to try it out and never went “home”. I’ve explored most of the DR, but I’ve lived on the Samana Peninsula for almost 10 years and now know it quite well.

Though I have a full time job, the ocean, sun and coconut trees make me feel like I'm still on vacation. Sure, I miss some things about life in the good ole USA. Flying, live music (blues, bluegrass, alternative, jazz), backpacking, my fellow volunteers at Sonoma Land Trust, downhill skiing, high speed internet, wine tasting, second hand book stores, Home Depot, The Golden Gate Bridge, Sierra Club "dog hikes", and my granola-crunching, tree-hugging friends, but I love it here.

My Promise: If you come here as my guest, I promise to do whatever I can to make sure you have a great time. I want you to go home thinking that working, saving, planning, organizing and packing (passport, sunscreen, insect repellent, iPhone charger, swim suit, camera, flip flops, iPod, paperback book/s, umbrella).......and then hauling it all to the Dominican Republic and back was worth it. (And that maybe you’d even recommend it to a friend.)

Hope to see you soon.
