Our cedar wood lodge has been designed and built for our family and friends to use when they visit.
It is in a rural setting about 4 miles outside the market town of Cockermouth but is actually located in the Lake District National Park with stunning views over the fells, Skiddaw, Bassenthwaite Lake and Keswick.
The lodge has been designed to make the most of those idyllic views and is a retreat for anyone wanting to relax, unwind and enjoy our “world Heritage” status.

The space
The lodge is set in one of the most beautiful places in the country, on a working dairy farm, and we are privileged to call it our family home.
The space is all on one level with four steps leading up to the main entrance.
There are large sliding glass doors in both the living space and bedroom to maximize the fabulous views. They open up onto the bespoke decking where tables and seating are located.
It is open-plan living with a large bedroom and en suite bathroom.
The beds can be arranged as 2 singles or pushed together to create a super-king on request.
It is detached and set privately away from the main house with its own entrance, garden and car park facilities. There is wrap around decking on two sides with a seating area on the scenic side to allow you to soak up the amazing views.
The en-suite has a free standing shower as well as a separate bathtub for a good soak after a days hiking.
The main living area has a beautiful shaker style kitchen with a table and 4 chairs.
The comfy sofa and armchair are all situated to make the most of the outstanding scenery surrounding the lodge too.
You will love it. We do!

Guest access
PLEASE READ MY INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FIND THE LODGE PRIOR TO YOUR VISIT.
It is set in a beautiful countryside location but shares its postcode with a number of other properties in the Hamlet including several farms.

As you drive up to the main house (called Bankhead) you will see a flagpole and flag where the driveway forks to the left. Take this and you can park right outside your lodge in a private area.
The lodge is all yours during your stay.
If you need any washing done there is a machine in the lodge along with a clothes horse and radiators. There is no tumble dryer but during summer a washing line can be used.
The garden is large and you are free to use the space wrapped around the lodge as you please.
If you need anything at all either call me your host Mandy or knock on the door of Bankhead next door where my parents live.

Other things to note
The lodge offers a unique holiday experience.
It is in a stunning rural location with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
This luxury accommodation has everything you need, wether it’s for a hiking or active holiday, or simply to relax and unwind.
It is self contained and has tailor made decking outside through the huge sliding doors - just to make the most of that beautiful view.
Wether you choose to sit outside with a glass of wine and soak up that view or head into our local town for a bite to eat at a choice of wonderful restaurants - is up to you :-)

The lodge is located in Isel which is a hamlet mainly made up of farms and small holdings. It is within the boundary of our family farm "Long Close".
Our family have farmed this land for 100 years and would be more than happy to show you the walks through the farmland or answer any questions you may have about how we farm it.
The towns of both Keswick and Cockermouth are within a 10-20 minute drive and have lots to offer including cafes, restaurants, shops and pubs.
There are some wonderful walks and wildlife close by too.

I am an Airbnb host and manage two listings, both of which are in the Lake District. One is in the countryside where I grew up on our family farm and the other is where I currently live with my husband, son and our dog Max. I consider myself very lucky! I love to travel but not too far from home if possible ! Spending time with friends and relaxing with family are my favourite things to do:-)
