Newport Beach is a good surfing beach. Locals surf, paddle board, surf ski and make great use of the Newport Surf club.
There is also a wonderful sea pool at the southern most end.
The streets are very quiet. There is a lovely old style Bowles club just next to the Tennis club down the road which is wonderful for an afternoon beer or barefoot Bowles. The restaurants are truly at the end of the street.
Newport Arms Hotel is at the top of the Newport hill and has great bands, district views as well as a choice of Beer Garden menu or Fine Dining. There are also several yacht clubs boasting great restaurants, entertainment stunning views over Pittwater.
Busses also run from Newport Beach into the city from the end of the street.
There are numerous beaches to chose from that are all worth discovering - from Collaroy, Narrabeen, Warriewood, Mona Vale, Bungan, Newport & then through to Avalon and Palm Beach.
Access to Pittwater is also nearby. You can rent Sea Kayaks or Yachts from Bayview/Church Point or catch the Scotland Island Ferry for a fun ferry ride around the area & fishing is also a great pastime.
Palm Beach has a beautiful golf course that separates the surf beach from Pittwater itself. There are numerous stunning restaurants to chose from and a beach that caters to all levels (they have kiddies corner at the South end). There is also a slightly challenging but worthwhile walk to Palm Beach Lighthouse. There are also additional bush walks all over the area.
