As you pull into the driveway this 1885 Victorian towers above you, your mouth drops in awe of the size. Up the porch to enter a small front door, a dimly lit winding staircase creaks as you ascend to 3rd floor. Original architecture painted many times over oozes with history. 70 years ago the house was turned into apartments, unloved for many of those years, time has definately taken its tole, yet to the spirits within, their big old house still stands proud and distinguished in all its glory.

The space
The historic Beck House is a well known feature in this town, once home to lumber baron Charles Beck, his wife and 9 children. It was the largest, the only one to have a slate roof, is one of the oldest still standing and of course haunted.
Charles, a very influential man partook in his share of building this town through the operation of his large mill allowing his participation in building the railway to the west, opening the first box factory in Toronto, to owning his general store which in present day is the town museum and the list goes on.
Whether you are a history buff or perhaps just ready to sleep in a haunted house you have come to the right place.

Guest access
You will have sole access to a self contained apartment on the 3rd floor, you must walk up stairs. Fully equipped kitchen with dining room. Netflix in the living room for your evening enjoyment. 2 bedrooms each housing a double bed. Parking in the rear of the building, smoking on the front porch. Self check-in anytime after 3PM..checkout 12PM (noon)
Please Note: this is a quiet adult building tenanted with people, cats and ghosts.

Neighbourhood highlights

We have 2 apartments, 301 and 302 to share with you in this quaint little historic town of Penetanguishene (shortened to Penetang) which is located on the shores of Georgian Bay.
Due to Covid many of the usual venues are not quite open yet..
The centre of town with unique little shops, restaurants, a pub, a cafe. Of course let's not forget Timmies.
Discovery Harbor which was the original British Navel and Military Base and also know to be haunted.
Champlain Wendat Park offers historical statues, views of the waterfront and hiking trails.
Close by in the neighboring towns we have Saint Marie Among the Hurons, Huronia Museum and Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre.
Slightly north is Awenda Park with beautiful views of the waterfront along with hiking trails.
AND just around the block from The Haunted House, a must to visit on your list is The Penetang Centennial Museum which was the former C. Beck Lumber Office and General Store.
