Built in 2010, Waterfall Cottage provides a romantic, comfortable, rustic retreat space in the woods perched just above a magical flowing mountain stream. Drive only 15 minutes into Asheville, 7 to 10 minutes from hiking, restaurants, and grocery shopping.
Our beloved Waterfall Cottage is perfect for an individual or couple who wish to experience the best of both worlds, the peaceful zen of the woods with two mountain streams which come together on our property as well as being within 15 minutes driving distance to both downtown Asheville and Black Mountain (where you will find great abundance of amazing restaurants, shopping, nightlife and other attractions). The cottage contains a queen size bed. There is also a small living space with a futon plus table/chairs for 2 people, full bathroom (from which you have a view of our small waterfall), and a cozy galley kitchen (for simple food preparation). Your own private back deck also overlooks the water. The cottage is located on one acre of land in the Buckeye Cove Community of Swannanoa (between Asheville and Black Mountain). The "main house", where my husband Jason and I live, sits about 50 feet from Waterfall Cottage. If you like, you may also meander along the woodland path which we created along the perimeter of the property. We are eager to share our little piece of paradise with likehearted souls!
NOTE: Most guests at Waterfall Cottage are not able to get a signal on their cellphone. Usually driving a short distance out of our cove will restore your cellphone signal. We have Wifi on the property, however guests' ability to connect to it is not guaranteed. Devices such as tablets and laptops seem to connect better than cellphones.

Jason and I have been practicing massage therapists in the Asheville area since 2001. For an additional charge, you can also book a single or couples massage with us for during your visit. Massage sessions will take place on-site in Waterfall Cottage.
Massage therapy rates are:
$75 per 70-minute session ($150 for couples massage)
$100 per 90-minute session ($200 for couples massage)
(We prefer that massage sessions are scheduled ahead of time before your arrival if possible.)
Guests are of course free to enjoy the privacy of the cottage as well as to explore (if they so choose) the property's woodland path and/or sit on the bench next to the waterfall. A walk on the roads in our quiet, woodsy neighborhood can be delightful as well. If hiking is your thing, we are also only 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and the trails of Warren Wilson College as well as 25 minutes from many hiking possibilites in Montreat.
Jason and I do not consider the main house to be a shared space, however it is totally OK if you want/need to come to our front door for any reason that may arise. We want to make ourselves as available as possible for both friendly interactions with our guests as well as for guiding guests as much or as little as is requested during their stay. I would say that, as a rule, we usually err on the side of giving guests as much privacy as may be desired. Also, guests booked for more than a 5-night stay are welcome to use the washer/dryer in the main house as needed.
Access to other area attactions/amenities:
Closest supermarket(Ingles) - 7 min.
Whole Foods/ Earth Fare/Trader Joes - 15 min.
Biltmore Estate - 20 min.
Warren Wilson College - 10 min.
Blue Ridge Parkway entrance - 10 min.
Regarding our flexible check-in, I will try to accommodate guests' check-in preferences as best as I can. It might be good to communicate about check-in time before making a reservation. Since my schedule and other obligations vary from day to day, I may or may not be able to offer you as early of a check-in as you may need/want for your travel plans.
Interaction with guests
Jason and I will be present next door in the main house (where we live with our two cats, Liam and Lyle) during your stay. We want to do all that we can to ensure both your comfort at Waterfall Cottage and that you have the richest experience possible here in the mountains of North Carolina. Depending on the day, we have a tendency to come and go quite a bit. We also, from time to time, see local massage therapy clients in the main house. On nice evenings, you may just catch us taking our own walk along the woodland path with Liam and Lyle, one of our favorite family activities. We trust that we are attracting visitors who share a mutual respect for both privacy and autonomy. AND, in setting our intention for the co-created experience of appreciation, comfort, harmony, peace, freedom, connection, and fun...we invite interactions with our guests which flow with the ease of the soothing mountain stream that serenades us here in our cove.
Other things to note
We like to do our best at keeping Waterfall Cottage an acceptable enviroment for people who deal with allergies to cats. Please do your best to not allow either cat to come into the cottage (especially for an extended period of time). No other pets or service animals are allowed on the property.
As is the case in many pockets of our mountains, you may not have a cell phone signal here in the cove. U.S.Cellular and Verizon seem to do OK here, but there is no guarantee with your particular provider. We do have a landline at the main house if you have strong need to place or receive phone calls during your stay (to be used on a limited basis).
We will provide you with exact directions prior to your arrival. Do not follow Mapquest. Your GPS may get you here, but we prefer to make sure you have our homemade directions too.
The two biggest house rules are no tobacco use anywhere on the property and no pets or service animals allowed. We also would like no more than 3 guests staying at Waterfall Cottage and no children under the age of 6. Depending on the situation, we do consider making exceptions to these guidelines regarding children at our own discretion.
Beyond these rules, our intention is to attract guests who desire to also maintain the peacefulness of our little cove for both ourselves and our neighbors. Therefore, Waterfall Cottage is not suitable for parties, loud music, our loud disruptive talking/yelling.
I am originally from PA and have been living here in the Asheville, NC area since 2000. In my 20s, I also spent a few years in both Boston and France. I love so many aspects of my life here in the husband Jason, my home, my cats, and my community (including a villlage of women called Womansong, a chorus I've been singing with since 2005!). I enjoy hiking especially....and just being active out in nature in general. I trust that life can happen with ease if we allow it. I try to embrace healthy living in all its myriad of everchanging ways....good wholesome food(which I do like to prepare, but Jason is a great cook too), positive personal connections, massage therapy(both giving and receiving), and keeping my feet on the earth as much as possible...always aspiring toward being a vibratory match to what it is that I desire to attract to me in my life....and taking personal responsibility for those times when my resistance gets in the way. Being an Airbnb host and sharing our wonderful little piece of paradise with others is something that truly brings both Jason and me a lot of joy and satisfaction!
