This is a cozy 3 BR Home that acts like a cottage in the Woods. The area is filled with beautiful Birch trees and provides the perfect location to retreat from the world for a bit.

Are you needing to unplug/unwind? Whether you want to hide away and write a book or cross-country ski, snow shoe, ice fish, snowmobile or just take unimpeded walks to the lake (frozen or gleaming), this is the place for you! There is NO TV. Most guests, including myself, bring their laptops to watch Netflix.

The space
My guests have said that this is a great place to get away from the hustle of the City. Long walks or runs are great! You are close enough if you want to grab a pint at the Ship and Plough in Gimli or grab brekkie at the Gimli Hotel.

Most say they just want to hold up here and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It would be a great place to complete a thesis or book!

We have a family of deer that pass through daily and a little red fox has decided that running and jumping through the yard is his/her jam! Keep your eyes peeled for them.

Myself, I like to put on my audible book and just walk around this beautiful Birch-filled forest until I hit the lake or until the chapter is finished.

In Summer, I hook up my hammock on the front deck and just listen to the birds or take an afternoon nap between books. You really can't feel stress out here. The place just won't let you!

Guest access
You can access all areas except laundry room unless you stay for 7+ days. If you do have access to it, I would ask that you please keep out of the crawlspace as there is no reason to investigate the sump pump or furnace. There is a closet in the laundry area that is labelled owner’s that is for my stuff so please respect that.

The shed is also locked so not available to guests.

Bottom shelf and side of freezer is my food. There is a shelf in cupboard that is labelled mine so please leave my food be. Thank you!

Other things to note
***COVID-19 changes*** PLEASE READ 👇🏻

As you are aware, access to toilet paper is difficult at this time so I will be leaving my guests 3 rolls of toilet paper for the week or less stays to prevent theft and you are absolutely welcome to bring your own as well. If this is a longer term stay, I will discuss it with you directly. I also ask that you please grab your groceries from where you live (if possible) as to not interfere with locals’ ability to buy supplies and groceries. If you are ill (in any way) before your stay, please cancel and I will refund your money during the Covid-19 pandemic. If you feel ill during your stay, please let me know ASAP and be mindful to cough and sneeze in your sleeves as a best practice.

Non-Covid Info Below

In Winter, if you love to ice fish, Lake Winnipeg is the place! Snowmobiling is a close second! In summer, boating is a big draw along with all the Gimli Festivals (Icelandic Fest/Film Fest).

There will be some fresh local whole bean or ground coffee (grinder provided) to enjoy for your visit and a full kitchen to cook in. Try to sit back and just check out the views and the distant sound of the lake. You can get more at Flatland coffee in Gimli.

You are free to use the bbq, but please clean the grill and utensils after use and please bring your own propane.

You are free to use the fire pit, but please bring your own wood. You can buy some at Gimli CoOp, Spruce Sands store or Jad’s (both located within 5 min drive North on 222 from my cottage).

*For stays of less than 7 nights, there will be a $60 additional fee if you would like to use the dishwasher and/or washing machine as the home is on a holding tank. I would still ask that you be mindful of water consumption and shower length for this reason. Thank you kindly.

I usually stock up at Sobey's for my stays at the Cottage.

If I want a locally roasted coffee/latté, I hit Flatland Coffee in Gimli and if I am hungry, I grab a chilli burger and fries at Beach Boy (Summer/Fall) or Brennivins Pizza Hus for pizza or anything Italian. There are seafood restaurants as well and many ice cream shops.

If you want to shop, you must hit Tergesen's as they have great clothes, books and fun kitchen/household items/gifts.
