The Little House is the perfect spot for some post-lockdown enjoyment with loved ones and friends! Feel comforted by the thorough cleaning & sanitizing protocol and secluded haven with so much space that social distancing is barely a thought! Our perfectly humble resort is set on 14 peaceful acres with swimming pool! Plenty of hiking/cycling around the area or our private trails. Stock up on provisions in nearby Canandaigua Town and retreat! Sprawling lawns, woodland trails, campfire and grill.

The space
Part of an old Homestead built in the 1880’s, The Little House is one of just two dwellings, plus a beautiful old barn. You can enjoy plenty of privacy and space to stretch your legs strolling around the grounds and woodland trails. If you wish to stay put, relax and simply enjoy The Little House, stock up on provisions and have a night in! Cook your chosen dinner on the deck grill overlooking the pool (open until early October!) and lawns, plus full kitchen kitted out with all that you will need.

The Finger Lakes Region began it’s phased re-opening from May 15th and recent announcements are allowing restaurants to reopen for dining, within guidelines (recommend call ahead to check availability based on occupancy guidelines). Many great restaurants in nearby Canandaigua Town are offering Take-Out service - we have many reco’s! We like to either pick up a delicious meal to go or grab a ‘picnic’ from our excellent local grocery store: Wegman’s and take it down to the lakeside at Kershaw Park and enjoyed dining alfresco! Lakeshore Drive has a lovely wide strip of grass, with sunny and shady spots, sprinkled with picnic tables and benches or you can take a picnic blanket and just relax and watch life (steadily restarting!). It is both peaceful and inspiring to see the boats, paddle-boarders, kayakers out on the lake.

About 3 miles from The Little House is a handy gas station with small convenience store, a wine and liquor store and a cute little ice-cream shop - all which are operating with social distancing.

*****Of course, like you, we are taking the Coronavirus risk seriously and want to assure all guests that we are implementing even more rigorous cleaning and sanitizing to our already well reviewed ‘sparkling clean’ cleaning practices. The pool is really the only area that might have occasion to be shared and in that instance only shared with our suite (3 people maximum), and very rarely indeed, by ourselves. In the instance that the guests of the suite and the cottage use the pool at the same time, the pool and surrounding area is spacious enough to enjoy very easily and safely. We have plenty of sun beds/seating/sun umbrellas at each opposite end of the pool and all high touch areas are sanitized. We also provide additional antibacterial wipes and disinfectant spray and clean cloths for our guests to use as they see fit. We also discuss mindfulness and social distancing in the booking process/confirmation stage and also it is noted in the welcome information. We absolutely want our guests to feel safe, confident, comfortable and relaxed about their getaway and we do all that we can to put everyone’s minds at ease.**********

Guest access
In addition to the entirety of The Little House with it’s own front porch and deck to the rear with grill, guests are welcome to use the outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers (open until early October!). On occasions this may be shared, yet very often it is only used by guests. Also for guest enjoyment there are approximately 3 acres of lawns, a camp fire and approximately 10-11 wooded acres with trails which make for a nice relaxing stroll.

Other things to note
Our quirky cottage is mostly open plan which makes it a very sociable space, and we think it makes a perfect set up for a couple or two friends. We do have a brand new queen-size sofa bed in the living area to accommodate two additional adults/children for group or family trips although the areas are only separated by drapes for basic privacy: the stairs that lead up to the master bedroom do not have a door - awesome for families, maybe less private for two couples!

Couples are welcome to bring their own pack-n-play’s to accommodate their infants/toddlers.

We leave a flashlight in the hall closet for guests to borrow during their stay as although there is some outdoor lighting, the flashlight is a useful supplement!

Year-round, the plentiful network of wineries and craft breweries spanning the Finger Lakes Region offer a fun and sociable day out. We have plenty of great recommendations for you!

Year round entertainment to suit all tastes and ages is available. In summer, activities include sailing, kayaking, swimming, paddle-boarding, fishing, plus excellent and challenging countryside for cycling and hiking. Roseland Water Park (8.4 miles away) is an alternative way to keep cool in the summer sun and a great way to entertain the kids! CMAC, also on the outskirts of Canandaigua hosts live outdoor music concerts with some great performers!

***IN WINTER*** We are mostly around to manage snow-removal for the driveway and paths. On the occasions we are away, we will leave shovels in case they are needed.

During summer, our swimming pool is available for our guests to enjoy (open until early October!). Very often our guests will be the only ones using the pool. We very occasionally have guests (maximum of three) staying in the main house next door, who also have access to the pool, trails, grounds and parking. No other spaces or amenities are shared. There is still plenty of space to easily social distance and the pool furniture, railings, steps etc will be kept sanitized, with further sanitizer available to use.

Check-in is a breeze with our August Secure Lock System, using your smartphone.

If there is anything you should need during your stay, we are generally next door and happy to assist, but other than that we think it’s super important to leave you in peace to relax and enjoy your getaway! This is also reflected well in our guest’s reviews.

1.3 miles to Onanda Park and beautiful Canandaigua Lake
1.9 miles to Bristol Harbour Marina

Provisions: the cute and tiniest hamlet of nearby Cheshire is able to come to the rescue with priorities such as ice-cream, cold drinks and a light meal during the summer season. Adjacent is a wine and liquor store. Opposite, there is a handy local gas station and convenience store. Wegmans is the nearest sizable grocery store to replenish provisions and has a superb meat, fish, deli and bakery along with prepared meals. Aldi is also an excellent option.

Bars and Restaurants: Canandaigua offers a good array of bars and restaurant options - we have listed a few favorites in the welcome guide. A little further afield, but well worth the scenic drive, our favorite restaurants are Ports Cafe and Kindred Fare both 18 miles away in Geneva, which make for excellent options after visiting wineries in that area or the Outlet Shopping Mall **We recommend double-checking opening hours**

Hello! I’m from the beautiful Cotswolds in the UK and spend my time between there and the wonderful Finger Lakes region, with my husband. Dividing time between two continents takes some juggling so we have become expert in making the most of precious time with family and friends, and understand the importance of these special times for all. We are both hosts and guests. We appreciate the simple pleasures in life, and peaceful, private time to rejuvenate. I am a country-girl at heart, but love the spirit and possibilities of the city, so I always like to ensure I have a bit of both in my life and always the next adventure to look forward to! I enjoy running, walking and general outdoor life. I love experimenting in the kitchen and the loved ones I cook for seem to appreciate it! I am a renovation and property enthusiast and have two tremendous vintage airstreams I am steadily restoring. We chose this spot as it caters to what we consider to be a perfect mix: close proximity to plenty to do and see, or happily and comfortably ‘just be’ to your heart’s content! We love to share our humble spot with our guests and becoming a Super Host is a privilege. We think about both the big and small things we appreciate from a getaway, and do our very best to provide them. Guests can feel assured of a ‘home away from home’ experience, that they will be free to enjoy the peace and privacy desired, and that we really do care that they thoroughly enjoy their stay.
