Well preserved French Villa in a quiet alley in the absolute centre of Hanoi. In fact, no visit to Hanoi should miss a walk around the French Quarter aside of course from Hanoi's own famous Old Quarter.
A 15mins walk will take you to Hoan Kiem Lake, Old Quarter or Lenin Park. Right next door is the French prison - Maison Central, also known as the "Hanoi Hilton".
Outside this short alley, you have an abundance of food, coffee shops and convenience stores.

The space
This apartment is one room in a big villa which belonged to a French governor. After 1945, French colonizer left the North of Vietnam. All French villas in Hanoi were divided to Vietnamese people who supported and worked for the Vietnam government.

Guest access
I am able to help you with:

- Applying for a visa urgently
- Arranging transportation from the airport to the center, vice versa.
- Giving tips for visiting, local food, best view coffee shop, local shopping, etc
- Do not be hesitate to contact me if you need anything

Other things to note
I/ Neighbor:
There are 6 families in this villa. The villa was divided to each family according to their number of member or their position in the government. On our floor, there is another family.

The villa is considered as a cultural heritage, we have no right to change or re-build anything inside the villa. So the neighbor has to use the toilet outside which is next to this apartment. It may cause the issue that you may hear some noises from their bathroom, such as water run, gargles, etc.

II/ Our bathroom:
We know our guests must travel around the North, and Hanoi is just one of destination to the others. We try our best to provide all needed machines such as a washing machine so that they can clean up all their clothes. Unfortunately, a bathroom is not big enough to have a washing machine plus a cubicle (also I do not want to lose the charm of a French villa by doing so). We did try to re-arrange and put a curtain for a shower area. However, the bathroom floor may get wet after your showering. You will have a slipper to wear in the bathroom and a tool to clear the water if you wish to.

III/Bed:
Rarely, a few guests commented that our bed is too hard. We want to make sure that our bed is comfortable for everybody so that we just bought a topper to make it softer.

On October 1, 1888, the Kingdom in Hue signed an official agreement with French colonialists, from that day, Hanoi was a city under the French concession regime. The headquarter of the colonial government are based here include The Governor’s Office, the Supreme Court, the Secret Service of the Indochina Federation, the General of the French army in Indochina.

Since 1902, Hanoi has become the capital of the entire Indochina Federation. Hanoi is planned in the direction of a Western-style city. According to that plan, September 21, 1891, the Governor of Tonkin Beauchamp issued “Regulation of Hanoi construction” included specific and detailed provisions for balcony size of villas, a diameter of drainage pipes, doorsteps, billboards, etc…

A series of administrative buildings representing the power of the French in the land of Indochina has been built in Hanoi such as Governor - General, Long Bien bridge, the Court and Maison Central (which is just 2mins walk from this apartment); in which the court headquarters is considered a large architectural work at the time.
