Over 1,300 sq. ft living space includes 2 bedrooms, family area with pull-out bed in couch, workout area, kitchenette, hot tub, fire pit, quiet mountain-view neighborhood on 5 acres. 75 minutes from Denver airport, 40 minutes from Colorado Springs airport. Seven minutes from USAFA north entrance. Enjoy beautiful country setting but very close to shopping and area attractions.

The space

Do you need a comfortable and convenient place to stay for the Air Force Academy Graduation or for Parent’s weekend? Or maybe you're here on vacation? We are located just 7 minutes north of the Air Force Academy and we open the lower level of our home (1,300 square feet) for others to enjoy.

When you come into your private entrance, you’ll find 2 bedrooms with comfy queen beds, a living room with sleeper sofa, work-out area (treadmill, weights, and recumbent bike), kitchenette (includes pots and pans, stove plate, microwave, small fridge and dinnerware), a library, dining table, and a full bath.

Just outside your entrance is a hot tub, fire pit, and stunning mountain views. Bring your hiking shoes! You are also likely to see deer, fox, and maybe even elk during your stay.

Washer and dryer available upon request.

Are you a writer? I’m a writing coach—I’ve published books with 5 major Christian publishers. I also offer private writing retreats in our home. If you need a quiet and inspiring place to write, you might want to use the area for a retreat. Talk to me about separate times for me to coach you on your project.

Guest access

Hot tub, exercise equipment, fire pit, large flat screen TV, kitchenette (with all cookware), Wi-Fi, and full lower level of home.

Interaction with guests

We live upstairs and will likely be here when you are here. Because we work out of the home loud groups don't work for us. But a family or guests who don't blare music at 100 decibels does! You will have complete privacy and you have a separate entrance. We are happy to give you plenty of information to help make your stay in this beautiful part of the country as enjoyable as possible! We love to give our insider tips to our guests!

Other things to note

6 minutes to grocery store, restaurants, pharmacy and medical emergency. 7 minutes from Air Force Academy north entrance. 15 minutes from Focus on the Family. 20 minutes from Garden of the Gods and Glen Eyre Castle. 40 minutes from Denver's most exclusive shopping mall. 1.5 hours from white water rafting. 2 hours from skiing. 1 second from breathtaking Colorado stars at night.

Lorraine and Peter were so welcoming. From the cookies on the bed to the fresh fruit in the kitchen. They had everything we needed even the towels for the hot tub. It felt like home and the views were amazing. We were able to watch mule deer from the hot tub. We also enjoyed the gas fire pit on a cool evening. We will definitely be staying here again.

Lorraine and Peter's home was the perfect place to spend Parents Weekend. They were such gracious hosts, in addition to being super accommodating with check-in or check- out times. Their home was beautifully decorated and spotless throughout. Their welcome book was very informative. It provided us with all the information we needed for our stay at the house, as well as recommendations for places to go for hiking and sightseeing. They had an extensive library, as well as board games and videos. We had spectacular views as we sat around the patio drinking our morning coffee, relaxing in the hot tub, or sitting around the fire pit. We enjoyed lovely conversation with Peter and Lorraine, but we also had total privacy. Lorraine made us a yummy blueberry bread for our last breakfast there. She also took care of our cadet son's laundry and had it all nicely folded for him to take back to school. Their home is extremely convenient to the AF Academy, the highway, shopping, and numerous points of interest in the area, but it also has acres of wide open space that allows you to enjoy nature in all its glory. We will definitely like to come back to Lorraine and Peter's.

Our stay in Colorado Springs over Parents Weekend was wonderful. Lorraine had everything set up for our late arrival and gave great directions for our after-dark driving. We needed a place to relax and that is what we got! There was Netflix available, DVDs to watch, and comfortable beds. It was beautiful sitting outside and we even saw some deer. We were spending time with our USAFA cadet, and enjoyed every minute! The fresh blueberry bread was delicious :)

Lorraine and Peter were wonderful hosts. They gave us great ideas about local daytrips that would be fun for us and our child, and were very friendly while we stayed in their home. After discussing a day's itinerary they would help us out by printing information and directions. They were super accessible via phone or a knock on the door, but also gave us plenty of privacy to enjoy our vacation. The separate entryway was nice because we didn't feel like we were intruding, or had to worry about the hours when we would arrive or depart. Upon check-in we were greeted with a vase full of beautiful local wildflowers as well as a nice binder with information about the rental and the local area. They assisted us with using the hottub and firepit (a great way to spend an evening soaking in the views while relaxing and eating smores!). The rental itself is a dream! Just a few minutes away from the nearest interstate it still feels very secluded and private. We saw deer and lots of great birds both at the house and on the short drive from the highway. A large yard with room for a child to run around, as well as spectacular views and no road noise made this a very relaxing place to be. The bedrooms are good sized, with an enormous closet space in-between (large enough for a pack-n-play to fit with plenty of room to spare). Super soft bed with wonderfully soft sheets, as well as a very pretty shower with a "rainfall" shower head with excellent water pressure! The living area had room for us to lounge and watch TV, as well as eat meals in comfort. The kitchen area does not have a ton of counter space, but had plenty of dishes, a very useful family-size electric griddle, full-sized microwave, hotplate, and mini-fridge. With good planning we were able to cook breakfast and dinners for ourselves with no trouble at all. We ate lunch out while exploring Colorado Springs! "Checking in" and "Checking Out" were very easy. The rental was spotless. The location was super-convenient to all the attractions we wanted to see (USAFA, Garden of The Gods, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Manitou Springs). I would highly recommend this rental to a friend, and if we do another trip to the Colorado Springs area we would definitely want to stay here again.
