The Stables: boutique, self-contained, one bedroom, heritage apartment in city centre - with swimming pool. Self check in. Simple contemporary decor. European appliances. The city at your fingertips. 2 mins walk to Gouger Street (filled with gorgeous restaurants). 5 mins walk to famous Adelaide Central Market. 25-30 mins walk (or short free tram ride) to Adelaide Oval, Festival Theatre, River Torrens, North Terrace Cultural Precinct (Museum, Art Gallery, etc).

The space
The Stables is spacious and light filled. We have blinds on most windows, but if you are a light-sensitive sleeper this may not be the spot for you.

PLEASE NOTE: We have a dog - a Border Collie puppy named Ella !! She loves visitors so will probably greet you enthusiastically at the gate on your arrival. She is NOT allowed in the Stables, but she will be in the garden.

Guest access
The Stables are in a separate, completely self contained building (a renovated stables) in the back garden of our home (and home office). There is separate access via our back lane - with a key safe (so you can check yourself in). We have a fenced 3m x 6m swimming pool, heated (over summer only) and with swimming jets, that we would love you to share.

Other things to note
COVID19
The Stables are in a secluded back garden with a separate private entrance, minimising unnecessary contact with other people. In addition
- We wash all linen, towels, etc in very hot water.
- I clean thoroughly between guests,. I do that job myself to ensure that no corners are cut.
- We also now leave at least 24 hours between one guest leaving and the next guest arriving to allow for a bit of ‘social distancing’.

Parking
We have no parking on the premises. There is free on street parking all around us, but it is at times restricted. We can provide you with parking permits - so that you can park on the street.

Getting around
We are so central most things are within easy walking distance. Adelaide has a free inner city tram and a free city circle bus, and free bike hire. Uber operates in South Australia, including from the airport.

Dog
We have a Border Collie puppy - Ella. She loves visitors so will meet you at the gate. Apart from needing to keep the gate closed (so she doesn't escape) she should not impact on your stay.

Bookings more than 6 months out
We only open bookings for 6 months in advance - but if you want to book further out please get in touch. We can check the actual dates you want, and if they are free, we can open the dates for you to book.

Location

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

We love our neighbourhood, the historic South West corner of the City of Adelaide. It is (we think) the the most interesting part of the city. Formerly a bit industrial, now mainly residential, and filling with lively cafes and bars - including our favourites: My Kingdom for a Horse (recently voted best cafe in Adelaide) just across the road, Lantern by Nu (truly great Thai food) 5 doors down, Cantina Sociale and Five O'clock Somewhere (great wine bars) a short stroll across leafy Whitmore Square. A friendly, diverse and fun part of the city, close to everything!

During your stay
We will be around to answer questions (if you have any) and give local tips (if you want them). We grow grapes in our spare time, in McLaren Vale, so can also provide good info on wine tasting in that and other wine growing regions.
