This cosy, ivy-covered, one bedroom carriage house is charming and welcoming, filled with original art and furnished with a sophisticated blend of modern, mid-Century and antique pieces. It's located in the heart of friendly, convenient South Clintonville, near great restaurants and all the amenities, and a mile and a half from OSU Campus.

The space
Curl up and read or watch TV in the comfy queen-sized four-poster bed. If you'd prefer to cook at home during your stay, you'll find a fully stocked kitchen with 5-burner gas stove and dining area. In nice weather, there's a lovely outdoor sitting area under a crabapple tree, just outside the front door, set far back from the street for privacy.

Where you’ll be

Columbus, Ohio, United States

One of the oldest and most desirable neighborhoods in Columbus, Clintonville is perfectly situated no matter what your destination is, not more than a fifteen minute drive to the Short North, German Village, Downtown, Olde Towne East or OSU Stadium. Walk a block and a half down our tree-lined street of lovely Craftsman-style homes, and you're on N High St, the city's main artery, with convenient bus stops if you'll be seeking public transportation. There you'll find tons of popular eateries, craft breweries, boutiques, antique stores, and night spots. One of our local favorites for dinner is Harvest Bar & Kitchen and you won't find a better brunch or piece of pie than Dough Mama's Cafe & Bakery - don't miss out on their ham or avocado biscuit! Lucky's Market is just a few minutes away, like a smaller, cooler Whole Foods, and Ace of Cups is a bar to catch some Columbus's great local bands. On a nice day, ride your bike all along the Olentangy River on the nearby bike path or take a walk in the beautiful Park of Roses, one of serveral beautiful green spaces nearby. On Sundays throughout the summer, Clintonville has a fantastic Farmers Market filled with produce from local micro-farms and goods from local makers like the phenomenal bread and baked goods of Dan the Baker.

I'm a painter based in Brooklyn, NY and worked in the theatre for thirty years as a director and teacher. My husband, Lee, is an actor and we have one daughter who's a chef and baker in Columbus, Ohio. We purchased our guest house to have a home to stay in when we visit her, and host travelers when we aren’t in town. We travel as often as we can and have been to every continent except Antarctica. Our most recent big trip was India last fall. We love to eat and go to museums and just wander through new places, absorb the culture and discover things that surprise us. Our goal is always to experience a place from a local's POV, so we try to stay in real neighborhoods instead of tourist zones.

So unfortunately, we won't get to meet you in person but would be available by phone or text if you have any questions or issues that may arise. You will gain access to the house using a keypad lock. Should there be an issue that requires local attention, our daughter lives just five minutes away.
