David and Hope are lovely hosts and Herman does a phenomenal job of managing the property. They are prompt in their communications (even when I got into the airport at 3:30 am) and have provided everything I have needed during my stay. The home is clean, spacious, and feels like home. I encourage you to stay here if you are looking to stay in Mulago or just visiting Kampala. You will not be disappointed!

Our stay here was enjoyable and the location was particularly convenient as it was a very short bike ride from Acacia mall. The house is equipped with a TV, and kitchen also has all equipment for cooking and a communal dining area - which was ideal for us. Our rooms were also cleaned upon request. Overall, I felt very at home and would return again

Nice house up the Mulago hill near the cancer institute. Airy rooms and good common areas like living room with TV. Acacia mall only a few minutes walk downhill. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

The room was very spacious and comfortable and quite cool at night, although a bit dark. Welo Inn is very convenient to both Mulago Hospital and the medical school and I felt totally safe walking to and from work during the day along a lovely road with a great view. Although there is a small slum along the road next to the inn I never felt unsafe, and the children were super sweet. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a decent supermarket nearby, which the manager showed me on my first day. The Internet was quite good and reliable for most of my stay, and the few times it was out I suspect was a general problem with cellular networks as my phone also didn't work. There are lots of boda boda drivers close by but the inn does not have its plot number on the outside which makes it a little difficult to find for other drivers. The staff was very friendly and helpful, except for the driver hired to pick me up at the airport who was very unprofessional, though I did not see him again after that. This also may have been a misunderstanding on my part but although I was under the impression that there was always staff on site, which was an important consideration when choosing a place to stay since I am travelling alone, I was left totally alone in a dark, empty house with the kitchen door wide open on multiple occasions. This wouldn't have been so distressing if the door had been locked at least or I had been informed. I was also locked out of the property on one occasion, with no way to contact the only staff member inside (I had to call the manager who was away, who had to call someone else to let me in). This was resolved relatively quickly but made me quite insecure about going out when no one might be there to open the gate or answer the phone. Note also that although the inn is very close to Acacia Mall and surrounding Kisimenti restaurants and shops, you do have to go down an unpaved/rutted road and it is absolutely dark at night, so I would not recommend walking along it unless you have a torch/flashlight.
