Great location

This is the perfect getaway. This beautiful log cabin has all the amenities of home. The area is very remote and wild, surrounded by the Allegheny National Forest: fish, hike, bike, canoe, swim, hunt! Cook's Forest and Elk Country are about a 50 minute drive. Small to Medium sized dogs are welcome, but no cats due to allergies (The pet fee is $20 per pet.) There is a horse named Evening Glitter, on the property that I will be tending to around 8am, 5pm and throughout the day.

The space
The cabin was built by me in 1997 and is very quaint. This property was passed down from my great grandfather. He owned 200 acres and I inherited 10 acres. Most of the land on Bear Creek Rd is owned by my cousins. It is very pristine and quiet, unless the campers across the road happen to be there (they shoot fireworks and guns and ride dozens of 4 wheelers). You can hike from the back yard down the hill to Bear Creek, which takes about 10 minutes and is stocked with trout in the spring. By early summer, most of the trout have swam downstream to the Clarion River, which is about a mile or two from the cabin. The walk to the swimming holes about 20 minutes.

Where you’ll be

Ridgway, Pennsylvania, United States

There are very few neighbors, but there is John across the road who is helpful and loves to talk! Otherwise we are far from civilization and the PA wilds are relatively pristine and quiet. However the neighbors that are in the area in camps and homes can be noisy by shooting guns and fireworks or riding 4 wheelers .

I am a retired Chemical Engineer graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology. I am very active, athletic, love nature and the outdoors, riding dressage and jumping on my horse, Evening Glitter. I love meeting people and getting to know you. I truly love being able to share this unique area with nature lovers and many people who never get to see areas like this because they live in cities or suburbia and never get to experience the quiet, stillness and sounds of nature.

During your stay

I will be moving back to Florida for the winter but can be contacted by email, text or phone. In the winter, my horse and I move back to Florida until May. From around June to October, my horse and I will be living there in Bear Creek. I like to greet my guests and get to know you a little. Sometimes I may have to do work on the house or property too.
